My GitHub contribution graph would make you think I barely code 😭 Meanwhile, I code almost every day for hours. I just don’t commit every small change. Sometimes I only push when I’ve built something impressive, solved a difficult bug, or completed a major feature I don’t want to lose. The green squares don’t always tell the full story.
Mama I did it o 😭 UBA put me in the same room as Tony Elumelu. Saturday felt like a dream I don't want to wake up from. I got invited to the Africa and Everywhere festival hosted by Oge Elumelu. It was an impromptu invite, I didn't even think twice, I grabbed my bag & ran down to Lagos. And then I got there. Oge: "What's your name?" Me: "Blossom…" Oge: "Blossom Affia? I know you on LinkedIn" My heart almost left my chest 😭 Do you understand? She knew my name. I had some sweet conversations with Dr. Awele Elumelu, O.F.R, met @TonyOElumelu himself, top CEOs and founders. Met my Chiefs, @Emmanuel_Ndukaa and Oladotun Ajayi. Even met my community members I had only ever seen through a screen. And they recognized me 🥹 Me, the Akwa-Ibom girl who posted her 1st LinkedIn post about a year ago. The girl who used to sit in her mum's car and wonder if any of this would ever work. I want to cry, I want to scream, I want to fall on my knees and thank God because Saturday was not luck. Saturday was every single post I’ve made for the past 500+ days... Every 6am WAT I woke up to write, every single time I showed up when I didn't feel like it. If you're not building your personal brand on LinkedIn, I really really don't know what else to tell you. Showing up every day put me in that room. Go all in, lock in so hard & post that thing. Your Saturday is coming too 🥹🫶
