Minimum Salaries You Should Be Targeting in Software Development (India) - End of 2026
If you're in tech, here are the baseline numbers you should be aiming for based on experience:
• 2 years -> ₹10 LPA
• 5 years -> ₹22 LPA
• 7 years -> ₹30 LPA
• 10 years -> ₹42 LPA
• 12 years -> ₹50 LPA
• 15 years -> ₹70 LPA
These aren't aspirational figures - these are the floor.
If your current package is below your bracket, it's not just a number problem. It's a signal to upskill, switch, negotiate, or all three.
Your experience has value. Make sure your salary reflects it.

Ritesh Agarwal was 17 and homeless.
Travelling across India. Staying in cheap lodges.
Every room was dirty, overpriced, or both.
He started reviewing hotels on a blog.
Then thought — what if he just fixed it himself.
Dropped out. Applied to Thiel Fellowship.
$100k for people who skip college.
First Asian to ever win it.
Built OYO at 19.
Not a hotel chain. Just a brand on top of bad hotels.
Standardized the room. Fixed the WiFi. Added a kettle.
Owners said yes because OYO filled their empty rooms.
Guests said yes because they finally knew what they were getting.
10 years later.
1 million rooms across 35 countries.
Youngest self-made billionaire in India.
The teenager with a backpack.
Built the world's third largest hotel chain.
