⭕️ REPORT | The University of Washington has removed Aria Fani as director of its Middle East Center after a March 18 email he sent via the university’s listserv describing Israel as committing “acts of terrorism” and calling Zionism “cancerous, a potentially fatal outgrowth in our planetary body.” Fani, an associate professor of Persian and Iranian studies, keeps his faculty position but loses his administrative role. He said he was told his emails made “certain constituents feel attacked.” “By certain constituents, I assume the university means Zionists who would like to keep bombing every Middle Eastern country and continue dehumanizing their people,” he told UW’s student newspaper, The Daily.
