How can anyone not love a good putting course?
I love that these have become much more popular of late, and are being including with many new courses as part of the overall design.
Below are four of my favorites - I’d love to hear about a few of yours.
1. Himalayas at St. Andrews - the original, and the one every other aspires to. Just look at it.
2. Thistle Dhu at Pinehurst - as close as I’ve found to capturing the feel and spirit of the Himalayas. The location, in the heart of everything, is terrific.
3. Drumlin at Erin Hills - 63,000 square feet of wild undulation, lighted for night play and the perfect cap on a day of golf here.
4. The Commons at Ballyneal - the only private club putting course on my list, I’m including it just because I’ve got so many great memories of late nights here.

@CreateGolf Congratulations on your design at Bois D'Arlon. I suspect the land for the Parkland was challenging to create a playable routing. Loved the simplicity of design, the raised greens and classic bunkering. The greens shapes on holes 7 & 8 are wonderful for multiple pin placements.

And here are some from Jonathan Davison @CreateGolf Parkland course, which has a classic design feel of a 'Golden Age' course...reminded me of some of the old Donald Ross courses in New England, USA.

@Bobebbop It was our goal to give the client two contrasting golf courses and I think we achieved that. Hopefully I will be back to complete the Park course!

@BowTied_Golfer I am the current proud owner of one, I ll stop using as of now and I ll putt it in a large safe 🤩😆

@RamsayGolf You can see the catch basin drainage from the tee.

There is a lot of sand in Canada—here’s four other locations as well. Will be surprised if anyone knows two of these!
