@3dancingfeet I don’t know exact details across the board. I would say some people complete theirs with a combo of TAFE and work, others possibly full-time. To me the principal is the same though. You should be paid to train.

@CreativeMovesWA So are they all full-time apprenticeships? Is that another reason why teachers/nurses are not paid on practicum as they are at uni most of the time? 🤔 Presumably other apprenticeships have regular input via TAFE etc.? I don’t know the training systems for these roles in Aust 🇦🇺

There’s mostly good and a bit of bad in here. Pleased to hear about paid teacher placements. This financially cripples many of our students when they have to give up their jobs to go & teach. Causes a great deal of related stress. #academia #Australia abc.net.au/news/2024-02-2…

@3dancingfeet All trades get paid while completing apprenticeships… chefs, hairdressers, electricians, mechanics etc etc. a first year adult apprentice carpenter gets more than $25 an hour paid by employers.

@CreativeMovesWA Gosh, I didn’t know that was the case with plumbers and carpenters. That certainly does indicate patriarchal training policies are at work here.

@3dancingfeet @nlagovau This gif is definitely reminiscent of my Austrian-born Ballet teacher! She migrated to Western Australia post WW2 and was instrumental in the establishment of WA Ballet.

Super proud of my HDR (masters) student who just got her thesis results back: 90% 🎉🥳 What a pleasure it was supervising her. She’s now looking to turn it into a PhD. Explored the origins of #ballet 🩰 teaching in Australia through @nlagovau archives & other sources.

So much yes to this!!!!

Another new school! This term we’re delivering a 6 week curriculum focused program for the Yr 4s and 5s at Mercy College. Lovely to just be able to explore and play without the pressure of a performance - creativity rules!!
