TRENDING: Vanderbilt star quarterback Diego Pavia NFL Draft Scouting Report: Player comparison: D’Eriq King, Garder Minshew, Tyrod Taylor Round Projection: 6-7th Round/UDFA Breakdown: At 5’9 7/8” 198 lbs, Pavia possesses a size almost unseen in the NFL, outside of Kyler Murray (much superior athlete) and Bryce Young (much superior passer). He is comfortable operating a RPO/Option offense, although this is usually frowned upon pre-draft because of spotty translation to the next level. What he may lack in physical talent he has made up for in heart. Debatably no player in the country has lifted their team more over the past two seasons than Pavia. He is a fearless ball carrier and plays every snap like it’s his last. He is comfortable throwing while moving outside the pocket and looks to keep his eyes downfield. He was one of the best in the country attacking man coverage outside the numbers this season. That being said, NFL scouts are skeptical about much of his game carrying over. Pavia is prone to leaving the pocket early, and is seen as mostly a one-read-and-scramble type of player. His unimpressive arm talent makes him not a threat to throw the ball 40+ yards. He is also very susceptible to batted passes, both due to his sub 5’10 height and slower throwing motion. Conclusion: Pavia has the potential to be a fan favorite for someone who takes a late flyer on him due to his heart, but his physical limitations along with stylistic tendencies will prevent him from having much of a chance at being an NFL QB.
