Charge d’Affaires Mr. R. Madhu Sudan visited the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and met Mr. Ono Akira, Vice President of Tokyo Electric Power Co. Ltd. Mr. Ono and his team briefed the Cd’A on the ongoing decommissioning process of the plant, and both discussed potential areas of collaboration. The TEPCO team facilitated a tour of the facilities undergoing decommissioning and apprised the Cd’A of the current status while providing an overview of key facilities and processes. More than 30 heads of various premier academic institutes and universities from India and Japan attended the meeting. The Forum highlighted the need to enhance people to people connection and long term scientific networking -- the foundation pillars for fostering stronger Indo-Japan Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) co-operation.

During the bilateral meeting with President JST and Deputy Director General, both sides suggested increasing the number of exchange students visiting Japanese Universities from India through the Sakura Science Programme @ssp_kouhou. New models for start-up collaboration were also discussed.

Both countries could enhance co-operation on various new age STI sectors such as #Quantum S&T, #CyberPhysicalSystems, #Agriculture and #Health, #Semiconductor and #CleanEnergy.
