As your new Bishop, I wanted to share my heartfelt gratitude and Easter joy with you. At my installation on February 24, 2026, I expressed my desire that we walk together as one family of faith — united in Christ and attentive to the Holy Spirit. These words echo the timeless affirmation of St. Augustine of Hippo: Vobiscum sum Christianus, vobis sum episcopus — “With you I am a Christian; for you I am a bishop.” In this Easter season, I am especially grateful to journey with you in the Diocese of Palm Beach. We rejoice that the stone has been rolled away and that Christ’s Resurrection renews our hope. Even amid life’s trials, nothing stands in the way of God’s love for us. As we proclaim the Good News, may we remain anchored in the words of the Lord that guide my episcopal ministry: “The truth will set you free” (Jn 8:32). In the Risen Christ, we find that truth, that freedom and the promise of new life. May this Easter fill your hearts and homes with the grace, peace and strength of the Risen Lord. Nan enstalasyon mwen 24 fevrye pase-a, mwen te eksprime dezi mwen pou-m mache ansanm ak nou tankou yon sèl fanmy nan lafwa, ini nan Kris la anban pouvwa Lespri Sen-an. Nou kontan anpil wòch ki bare kavo-a nan roule, Jezi leve byen vivan pou ban nou lespwa. Malgre tout tray lavi-a, anyen pa ka anpeche lanmou Bondye pou nou. Pandan nap prokalme Bòn Nouvèl sa-a, se pou nou rete kole nan Pawòl Gramèt la ki sevi mwen bousòl kom evèk: “Laverite ap libere nou” (Jn 8:32). Nan Jezi ki leve byen vivan, nou jwenn verite, libète ak promès lavi tou nèf sa-a. Se pou Fèt Pak sa-a ranpli kè nou, fanmy nou ak lagras, lapè ak fòs Jezi ki leve byen vivan. This gesture of Jesus and his prophetic message are fully understood in the light of his Paschal Mystery. We have here, according to the evangelist John, the first proclamation of the death and Resurrection of Christ: His body, destroyed on the cross by the violence of sin, will become in the Resurrection the universal meeting place between God and mankind. And the Risen Christ is himself the universal meeting place—for everyone!—between God and mankind. For this reason, his humanity is the true temple where God is revealed, speaks, is encountered; and the true worshipers, the true worshipers of God are not only the guardians of the material temple, the keepers of power and of religious knowledge, [but] they are those who worship God "in spirit and truth" )John 4:23). In this time of Lent we are preparing for the celebration of Easter, when we will renew the promises of our Baptism. Let us walk in the world as Jesus did, and let us make our whole existence a sign of our love for our brothers, especially the weakest and poorest; let us build for God a temple of our lives. And so we make it "encounterable" for those who we find along our journey. If we are witnesses of the Living Christ, so many people will encounter Jesus in us, in our witness. But, we ask—and each one of us can ask ourselves—does the Lord feel at home in my life? Do we allow him to "cleanse" our hearts and drive out the idols, those attitudes of cupidity, jealousy, worldliness, envy, hatred, those habits of gossiping and tearing down others? Do I allow him to cleanse all the behaviors that are against God, against our neighbor, and against ourselves?... Jesus never strikes. Jesus cleanses with tenderness, mercy, love. Mercy is his way of cleansing. Let us, each of us, let us allow the Lord to enter with his mercy—not with the whip, no, with his mercy—to cleanse our hearts. With us, Jesus' whip is his mercy. Let us open to him the gates so that he will make us a little purer. -Pope Francis

Mary’s “Let it be done to me” transforms the humble house of “her” being into God’s House, becoming a Tabernacle of the Most High Jesus. All it took was her “Let it be done to me”, a sign of her willingness, knowing she could trust in the action of the Holy Spirit. And God entered into history, accepting to “make” history in the lives of those who have said and who would say over and over again, “Let it be done to me”. Mary’s first characteristic is her faith. She believes and entrusts herself to God, certain that nothing is impossible for Him. God is not afraid of our moments of confusion, of reflection, of trying to understand. God does not force our freedom, but teaches us how to be free so that each one of us can say our own “Let it be done to me”. The second characteristic is that she accepted God’s time and pace—His time requires our time, it requires that we live more profoundly. God asks for our “yes”, but He also asks that we assume go at His “pace” and “time” which is not simply the ticking of the clock. God’s time is the right time, the fullness of time, the opportune moment, the moment of grace. Today is disclosed the myst’ry before the ages; and the Son of God shall become the Son of Man, that by his adoption of the lowest he may grant us the highest. Of old Adam failed to become a God as he desired, so God became Man that Adam might become as God. Wherefore, let creation rejoice, and nature exchange greetings, for the archangel did stand reverently before the Virgin and offered her joy instead of sorrow. Wherefore, O our God, who by thy compassion became man, glory be to thee. From the Byzantine Matins for the Feast of the Annunciation

As we draw closer to Holy Week, today’s Gospel brings us to one of the most powerful encounters in Scripture—the moment Jesus calls Lazarus from the tomb. In his series “Encountering Jesus with Bishop Manuel,” Bishop Manuel reminds us that this moment is more than a miracle story. It’s a revelation of who Jesus truly is: “I am the Resurrection and the Life.” Bishop Manuel beautifully explains that Jesus doesn’t simply restore Lazarus’ physical life—He reveals that He Himself is the source of all life, the One who brings hope where there was despair, renewal where there was sorrow, and resurrection where everything seemed lost. Before the miracle, Jesus enters into the pain of Martha and Mary. He listens, He weeps, He stands with them. And then, in an act of divine love, He calls out: “Lazarus, come out!” This is not only a command to Lazarus—it’s an invitation to each of us to step out of whatever feels like a tomb: fear, doubt, grief, sin, or discouragement. #DioceseofPalmBeach #BishopManuel

#DioceseofPalmBeach #BishopManuel
