One idea that I explore in my book Suicide of a Nation is ‘suicidal empathy’ - how politicians in the West have become so obsessed with showing empathy to others they are willing to destroy their own nations along the way. Words like empathy and tolerance sound noble and virtuous. But as Canadian psychologist Gad Saad points out, when empathy is taken to its extreme it can lead people to abandon all reason and rationality. You see suicidal empathy at work across the West today, where politicians prioritise minorities and outsiders at the expense of their own country’s survival. And you also see it at work in how some politicians are entertaining another idea that’s been debated in Britain this week - the demand for “slavery reparations” ⬇️⬇️⬇️ mattgoodwin.org/p/no-britain-s…

There’s an entire glorious genre of photos that we might tentatively entitle: ‘Keir Starmer standing in front of people who visibly loathe him.’ His trip to the Gulf this week means we can add RAF personnel to the list of people who’ve been subjected to these grey reluctant photobombs, alongside oil workers, school children and the cabinet. ✍️ Madeline Grant Article | spectator.com/article/keir-s…

Cutting jury trials risks more miscarriages of justice. The Government is pressing ahead with a sinister plan to almost halve the number of jury trials in England and Wales. While David Lammy claims this is the only way to tackle the Crown Court backlog of 80,000 cases, there is no meaningful evidence to support this. The Institute for Government finds it would save just 2% of Crown Court time – not the 20% promised. The Four Bars have also warned the reforms will undermine public trust in the justice system. There are also concerns that curbing jury trials could expose victims to re-traumatisation in an already strained magistrates’ court system, where they may be cross-examined by defendants. The move would also reduce access to legal aid. Defendants must earn under £22,325 to qualify, compared with a £37,500 threshold in the Crown Court. Recent evidence suggests 25% of defendants appear unrepresented as a result. Ensuring both sides have legal representation protects victims, reduces delays, and is fundamental to a fair trial. The Government’s reforms are reckless. Read more in @thetimes 👇

Military aged Iranian men are streaming across the Channel. Some almost certainly IRCG operatives. MI5 has already thwarted 20 attempted terrorist attacks from them. Starmer’s response, egged on by Tories is to stop a rapper coming here. A sick joke on the British people.

🚨MICHELLE DEWBERRY ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS AND RAGING OVER STATE OF UK 😡 Michelle Dewberry Slams The Unsafe State Of Britain, Women And Girls No Longer Protected "I'm so angry. Increasingly as a woman in this country, we are starting to feel more and more unsafe. As parents in this country we are starting to feel our children are at more and more risk." "When you start complaining about things like this, you are labelled in a nanosecond far right." Michelle Dewberry unleashed her fury on GB News after two 17-year-old Afghan asylum seekers, who arrived in the UK via small boats just months earlier as unaccompanied minors, were sentenced for the brutal r*pe of a 15-year-old girl in a Leamington Spa park. The attackers received 10 years and 8 months, and 9 years and 10 months in youth detention respectively. The victim captured the assault on her own phone, but the footage was so graphic and appalling that one of the barristers warned in court it was "genuinely horrific" and would cause riots if the public were to see it. Dewberry highlighted how anyone daring to speak out about these dangers to women and girls is immediately attacked, smeared, and labelled far-right in a desperate attempt to silence concerned citizens. She spoke for millions of frustrated Brits who have had enough of feeling unsafe in their own country.

So HS2 won’t even be ‘high speed’ after all. To save money, trains could be limited to 186mph instead of 224mph. This delayed, scaled-back and now slowed-down rail project is a national embarrassment, says James Woudhuysen buff.ly/fEiLwZJ

Ofcom is back in the news — and not for the right reasons. Serious questions are being raised after it emerged that the media regulator awarded £50,000 to the charitable arm of The Guardian. This comes at the same time as Ofcom continues to target outlets such as GB News, while aggressively enforcing the Orwellian Online Safety Act. In recent years, Ofcom has begun to flex its muscles in ways that go far beyond its original remit — even straying into matters of foreign affairs. The Online Safety Act granted the regulator sweeping new powers, which are now being used in ways that are stifling free speech. What was presented as domestic legislation to protect children from online harms has evolved into something far broader. Ofcom’s growing extraterritorial ambitions now pose a direct threat to the First Amendment rights of US citizens and are already having a damaging effect on American tech firms. Read more below 👇

No, Miliband. You should not be covering prime Lincolnshire arable land in solar panels. It’s for growing food, moron. One day, the batteries in a solar farm are going to cause an inextinguishable blaze. This will be your fault, Mad Ed.

The Free Speech Union’s latest investigative briefing reveals that ALL FIVE members of the Government’s working group tasked with defining “Islamophobia” — now rebranded as “anti-Muslim hostility” — have troubling links to Islamist organisations. These include the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) and Muslim Engagement and Development (MEND), which successive governments since 2009 have refused to engage with due to their extreme views. Baroness Gohir even tweeted in support of Hamas in 2014. Another member stood for the far-left, Islamist-supporting Respect Party. In a free society, no religion should enjoy greater protection than others — nor be shielded from legitimate criticism and challenge. Parliament abolished blasphemy laws in 2008. This Government risks reviving them for Islam alone, via the back door. This group was stacked with members already sympathetic to such a definition. With the Government yet to appoint a new Islamophobia tsar, there is deep cause for concern. Watch @Katie_Lam_MP’s video below 👇
Katie Lam@Katie_Lam_MP

The Government's new ‘anti-Muslim hostility’ definition will make it harder to talk about Islamist extremism, FGM, and the grooming gangs. They’d rather restrict our right to criticise than deal with these problems head-on.  It’s putting us all in danger.

Instead of deporting illegal migrants, the authorities are now handing out rape alarms to schoolgirls. Our political class has lost the plot. This harassment by small boats migrants is happening across the country. We saw it in Epping last year when Hadush Kebatu sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl. It’s sickening. Last year I raised concerns about the safety of my own daughters. I said I wouldn’t want them walking to school past a migrant hotel, and that no other parent should be put in that position either. The BBC then invited a commentator to slam me as ‘xenophobic’. I don’t care what people say - I just want to protect the British people who are being put in danger every day by our open borders. The Tories didn’t want to fix this, which is why I resigned. Labour have made the problem worse. Only a Government led by Nigel Farage has the backbone to stop the boats and protect the British people. By the time of the next election the boats will have been coming for a decade. This is last best chance we have to stop the damage that is being done. Vote Reform 🇬🇧
