Three years after the earthquake, our grief is compounded by uncertainty. The safe haven we've built in Canada remains our only refuge, given the dire conditions back home. We urge for our voices to be heard and our situation to remain a priority. 🙏🇨🇦

February 6 is not just a date.
Three years later, the losses are still real, and returning home is still not safe or possible for many of us.
We are in Canada not by choice, but by necessity.
We remember. We carry it with us.

We are grateful.
And we are grieving.
Holding both is not a contradiction
it is the reality of a community split between two countries
mourning one, while rebuilding life in another
February 6 lives on in our daily lives.

Three years after the February 6 earthquake, returning home is still not an option for many.
Temporary displacement has become a long-term reality.
This is not the past, it’s the present.

Only a failed system ignores people’s voices. A system built solely for economic immigrants becomes a discriminatory, racialized structure designed for exploitation. No answers, no accountability, not even an apology only false hope.

Thank you, Canada, for the bridge in our darkest time.
Now, as we stand stronger on this side, a fair pathway forward would honor both the past help and the present contribution. #TS2023@LenaMetlegeDiab#RememberFebruary6
#TS2023 The Canadian government issues visas to Turkish earthquake survivors. As Turks, we’ve successfully integrated into our Canadian communities. I’m an active, full-time working engineer who pays taxes. I have two sons in grade 8 and 5. and my wife is a tennis instructor❤️🇨🇦
TS2023 was designed as an emergency measure.
Three years on, the situation is no longer emergency management, it is long-term settlement without long-term status.
