whatever happens, teaching literature will be more important than ever before. they’re trying to defund us for that very reason, ban books for that very reason. but we continue to challenge the stories that are fed to us & fight for what’s human.
I’m grateful to teach tomorrow.

My mom worked on the Florida abortion ballot initiative for nearly two years. She is besides herself. "We can't sustain raising 125k a month to help women travel. We won't be able to get them abortions." This is devastating.

Every year, we do twelve days of books for our kids leading up to Christmas and it is one of the most joyful experiences of giving and receiving I’ve ever been part of ❤️💚

Buy your kids books for Christmas. Teach them that reading is for pleasure, not to pass a test. Let them pick their own books, let them read what they love, let them see you reading with joy and enthusiasm.

@zoerosebryant This exactly!!! They’re a big reason why I wanted to become a children’s librarian/writer as well. With every new update to this IP I grieve for our nerdy, bookish younger selves. It sucks that we were failed by an awful person who continues to be enabled by greedy companies.

harry potter is a huge reason why i fell in love with reading and later writing as a kid, and for that, i’ll always have a fondness for it. but WB can’t defend continuing to invest in its expansion when they’re simultaneously financially supporting a tyrannical transphobic bigot.
