I've been a huge fan of Christian since he came out of college. Hated going against him in Arizona. Watching him on film this year, I think he looks like the same guy he's always looked. Yeah, he had a couple of injuries that set him back, but when he came back from them, he's the same dude he's always been. He competes, he blocks. Jed York on the 49ers offseason spending this year and last year: “Last year we tried to assess where we wanted to spend money and we chose to mainly spend it on our own guys and when you’re locking up your quarterback and two Hall of Fame players in Fred Warner and George Kittle, that’s where we chose to spend our money. We didn’t want to lose Dre Greenlaw last year— love Dre. Super excited that he’s back. But that’s how this league works. The folks that we signed in free agency, Mike Evans, is somebody I’ve known and respected for a long time. The guy wants to be here and he wants to be a part of a team that can go compete and win a Championship… What you spent last year it all sort of ties together when you’re spending money and how you’re spending money and you have to be smart about that.” via: @VicTafur

Matt Barrows on Jauan Jennings: “I spoke to a team of officials across the league and I asked about Jauan Jennings and the answer is obvious, he thought his market was gonna be bigger than it was. Back in the summer the 49ers were negotiating a deal, but Drew Rosenhaus and Jennings thought that he was worth more than the 49ers were willing to pay and it turns out that the rest of the league agrees with the 49ers. He’s too good of a player not to land somewhere in late April early May, but it’s not gonna be at the $15-20 million price tag that he was seeking.”
