[Updated Pinned Post, October 2024] You can find me mainly on discord (dm me if you're a mutual and I'll probably share my username) And also 🟦⛅ at falconsquill.bsky.social I also have a tumblr with the same name but tbh I don't use tumblr much anymore.

But then again, this is the Gaming Community™️ that starts throwing tantrums when games add *optional* accessibility options that make their games playable by more people, because how dare they have to share their hobby with disabled people.

Already seen some fuckwits pull the "Omg you people can't do anything" like this is their first day alive and the idea that some people cannot physically play (at least some) video games is revolutionary

One of my friends from uni has degenerative blindness and had a very difficult time with FF15 because the font size is so small. My brother has cerebral palsy and can't hold a controller at all. Even when an accessible one's available, games often demand too-quick inputs.

nobody ever mentions epilepsy, migraines, and motion sickness when talking about the playing vs watching for story video games debate. that should be the first talking point

Some of the worst and most inaccurate video game takes I've seen have come from those sorts of gamers.

Also if playing a game yourself is necessary to comprehend the story, then a lot of gamers need to go and play their entire library again because a lot of them do not actually understand the games they're playing. 100 hours in a game means nothing if you don't pay attention.

And tbh, even having a PS2, 3DS and old computer were lucky. Plenty of other kids I knew hardly had even one of those things.

I'm learning that according to Twitter I might not be a True Gamer because the only consoles I owned until 2016 were a PS2, a 3DS and a family computer from 2002 that ran Windows XP, so I had to settle for watching Let's Plays until I could afford a PS4/5 and PC myself.

@p5q9r8wnk @AlamoIqbal @BiXolotl But if people want to play anything more recent than something that came out 20 years ago, emulating on a phone won't cut it. If they can't afford current consoles/PC's then of course Let's Plays would be easier for them to access

@FalconsQuill @AlamoIqbal @BiXolotl Don't buy the laptop and get a Chinese android phone, always lunch above their price point. Any $300 Poco will emulate up to PS2

Gaming is expensive, what part of that do people not understand? A PS5 costs $800, a Switch 2 costs $700, a middle-ground gaming PC can still be over $1000. Games themselves cost anywhere from $70-120+. Even many online services cost money.

"There's no excuse for not being able to play video games because you can emulate them on your phone" So as a Certified Gamer™️ my phone has only 64gb of storage and most modern games release with at least a 50-100gb file size. A phone with enough storage/power is like $1500+.

@AlamoIqbal @BiXolotl A cheap, basic laptop costs about $300 AUD. A PS5 costs $800 and each game released is usually $90-120. Even a PS4 was $400-500. One is a lot more feasible for someone to afford than the other.

@_rhodetodell Outside of that he'd be a wanderer, hunting dangerous predators, monsters or voidsent that had started to throw the local area out of balance. As WoL, he loses sight in his right eye due to Light/Shb but non-WoL, it's because he suffers a major injury there instead.

@_rhodetodell Ra'shan would eventually become known as an elite adventurer with a lot of knowledge about voidsent and ancient methods of casting magic, on account of his vieran elders teaching him. He'd occasionally even assist the Scions with problems concerning those things.

@sammylee_0 My first was FF15 and honestly, it's still one of my favourites because of how real and human the main group feel. FF14 is my top favourite now but 15 is still very high up there

@SonicHero3D I tried playing OG FF7 about 5 years ago and it surprised me just how quickly you leave Midgar compared to it taking the entirety of Remake. It's definitely hardware/software limitations of the 90's but it was jarring how quickly the story rushed some things

Alright, I'm now 10 hours into FF7. I know it's the OG, and the Remake does things differently. But in a weird way, OG feels like an ABRIDGED version of the story to me. Moments and pacing are faster...and I kind of don't like that. I still think OG FF7 is pretty great so far.
