This 1903 photo shows the workshop of #German #luthier Otto Roth in #Markneukirchen, #Germany, illustrating that very large, oversized double basses were being crafted at the turn of the century. Otto, like Ernst Heinrich Roth, was part of the renowned family of violinmakers.

Our #Pernambuco tree is in bloom. The source of the finest bow wood, Pernambuco is an endangered wood species from Brazil. Our tree was a gift to us decades ago. My father has personally grown dozens of them from seeds and gifted them to others. #archetier #bowmaking #bows
