First Steps Future Training

This week our young people have been building their skills in joinery and bricklaying with @NCLanarkshire and @FirstStepsFT. They are learning more each week, preparing them for a future in construction 🛠

🪏WEEK 7🪏 This week the boys at the Bungalow project made a start to building the pergola. This includes digging holes, cutting wood and taking measurements. Overall learning great landscaping skills @FirstStepsFT

Week 15 This week we added the finishing touches, and the bungalow garden area is finally complete — all thanks to the fantastic support from First Steps. Our young people put their all into this project, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they’ve achieved! @FirstStepsFT

Eli joined us through Aspire (in partnership with SLC) and quickly discovered a passion for painting. He went on to complete a 6-week work placement with Crawford Decorators, learning decorating, wallpapering & outdoor work. His hard work paid off with a full-time job👏

Chonaill first joined us through our Construction Taster Programme while at school, gaining hands-on experience across multiple trades. At just 16, he progressed to our TFW programme, earned his CSCS card, completed a placement with PDA, and is now in full time work! 👏

Mackenzie joined our Training for Work programme in Glasgow, funded by Glasgow City Council. After H&S training, he completed a 6-week placement with MGS Scaffolding. Despite early challenges, he smashed it and has now secured a full-time role! 👏💪

Ben joined our TFW programme in Glasgow, funded by Glasgow City Council, achieving his SQA H&S Level 4 and CSCS card. After a challenging 6-week groundworks placement with Cuchlain Construction Ltd, his perseverance paid off. Ben’s now secured a full-time role! 👏💪

A huge well done to Jamie! 👏🔨 Jamie completed our TFW programme at First Steps, achieving his SQA Level 4 Health & Safety, gaining his CSCS card. After a 6-week placement with Capitol Building & Electrical Services, he’s now secured a Joinery Apprenticeship! 🎉💪🏽

Coben joined First Steps via Aspire, completed his Construction Taster, CSCS & H&S training, then progressed to FS2E. After a 4-week placement with McTaggart Construction, where his strong work ethic stood out, Coben secured a full-time Labourer role🎉

Matthew joined First Steps through the Training for Work programme. He gained his Level 4 H&S and CSCS card, then completed a 6 week placement with Ecosave. His hard work paid off Matthew has secured full-time employment🎉

Ciaran joined First Steps via Aspire and showed an excellent work ethic, timekeeping & attitude. He gained his Level 4 H&S and CSCS card, then progressed to FS2E. After a placement with South Lanarkshire Glazing Company, Ciaran secured a permanent job 🎉

Arkam joined First Steps via Aspire and stood out for his excellent work ethic, timekeeping & attitude. He gained his Level 4 H&S and CSCS card, then progressed to FS2E. After a 6-week placement with KRS Rail & Civils, Arkam secured a permanent job 🎉

Marcus joined First Steps after deciding it was time for a change at 16. Through our TFW programme, he completed CSCS & Health & Safety training. After a 6-week placement with McLaren Stone, his hard work paid off Marcus secured a full-time job 💪🎉 @Shawlands_DET

Callum joined First Steps via the Aspire Programme, completed his Construction Taster, CSCS card & H&S training, then progressed onto our FS2E Programme. After a 6-week placement with Fyne Painting Contractors Ltd, Callum has now secured an apprenticeship! 🎉
