When you woke up this morning, your internet worked. You scrolled, you searched, you shared. But 90 million Iranians woke up — again — to total darkness. Their government has now imposed the longest nationwide internet blackout ever recorded in any country. Almost 40 consecutive days. That should alarm every one of us. Iran’s information blackout is a weapon against its own people. When governments can flip a switch and immediately disappear 90 million people from the internet, the rest of us lose our eyes and ears too.

Seeing that I made you so mad you replied twice, with six minutes between them, I figured mission accomplished and was ready to leave you with your ignorance. But I’ll choose to be kinder. Maybe this will inform you a bit so you stop speaking out of blind rage. First, Iranians have risen up against their brutal Islamic regime on multiple occasions. Each time, the death toll has been higher than the last, with more than 45,000 gunned down in January alone. Life is precious to Iranians, unlike to the fanatical foreigners ruling them, so every life lost is also a wound carried by those who survive. Second, this is not about some free handover of power or anything like that. At this point, the goals of Iranians and Americans align. Americans can help remove a fanatical regime that has threatened the world with nuclear weapons and killed thousands of Americans, and they can do it at the lowest possible cost with the help of the Iranian people, who would be the US’s boots on the ground. In that sense, everyone wins. Third, from what you’re saying, it seems you really do not see the Islamic regime in Iran as a threat to the US. You would be extremely wrong about that too. Even at its weakest point, instead of giving power to the people, it is bombing civilians in neighboring countries and holding the world’s energy flow hostage. What do you think happens when they get their hands on a nuclear bomb? Do you really think they were enriching uranium deep in the mountains for medical and energy purposes? I hope you stop being defensive and actually read this with an open mind. The Iranian people are the most valuable asset the US has in this fight. Iranians love the US, and they hate their regime. They were the only nation in the Middle East openly grieving after 9/11. Next time, before reducing everything unfamiliar to you to “sand people,” think twice and maybe read a little.

I am supporting what President Trump campaigned on, which is Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. The regime is never going to abide by the rules, so the Islamic regime in Iran must be destroyed. Are you calling Trump a Neo-con for wanting to protect Americans from getting Nuked by Muslims?
Roger Stone@RogerJStoneJr

No Laura, you read the room. People are sick of your neocon horseshit. The president's policy of the limited strategic but lethal use of power without Boots on the ground and hundreds of thousands of American casualties as well as big defense contractors for companies like Halliburton is the" peace through strength" policies of Reagan and Eisenhower. You seem to have thrown in with the Bushs. Next thing you know you'll be promoting Ron DeSantis.

@MrLukeGeorge It also depends on the time and context. If Shah was still alive, Iran would now be a full secular democracy.

@DrEliDavid This is partially US's fault for not targeting the right targets and not setting the correct expectations. Hopefully, a proper understanding of this Shia regime has been reached, and we'll see widespread targeting of leadership and Basij in the coming weeks.

Iran's "10-point response" according to NYT 👇 Essentially the regime is asking Trump to admit defeat and surrender. It just shows how badly they are misjudging the situation, and miscalculating Trump's next moves. _

Call me crazy but the regime is supposed to be the one sweating here, not Washington. Rather than painting a picture of constantly waiting by the phone for it to ring, the administration should be playing it cool and push away from the table.

@SteveSkojec Exactly. The absolute majority of Iranians see this war as military aid to help them topple the butcherous Islamic regime that massacred 45,000 of them in January.

Kurdish separatist groups received weapons from the US with the promise of delivering them to the people of Iran. They kept it for themselves so they can use it against Iranians after the regime falls. Despicable. Good thing Trump exposed their true nature.

Is @VOAfarsi still the voice of America, or is it the voice of the Islamic Republic? Why is a U.S.-funded outlet undermining both the administration and U.S. policy in the middle of a war effort? The title of a recent VOA program, “From Iran Prosperity Project to Stone Age,” is deeply misleading and has the potential to shape perceptions among Persian-speaking audiences against the United States before they even watch the show. It appears to mock President Trump’s “Stone Age” remarks while also taking a jab at Prince Reza Pahlavi’s Iran Prosperity Project. It is understandable if the outlet wants to avoid promoting Pahlavi out of concern over accusations that the U.S. is supporting regime change. But criticizing both the President of the United States and one of the most widely recognized Iranian opposition figures in this way raises serious questions about editorial judgment. More concerning, this framing risks implying a coordinated effort between the United States and Pahlavi to bring Iran to destruction and ruin. That is a serious and irresponsible implication. It is unacceptable.
