@daftprinceling The name of my setting being "Crisis Averted" is linked through the fact all these planets and governments, all wish to maintain their status quo not for the good of the people but for their own stability and hegemony
English

@daftprinceling Oh that sounds very cool! I'm kinda in between since I wanna use both hard and soft sci fi concepts and to kind of combine them in a weird amalgamation of both interplanetary politics and logistics but also having a very negative/positive theme oscillation
English

@daftprinceling Logistics and all. Having to plan routes, which systems you own are the best to re-fuel at. Grab food and supplies from said dock hubs. Approximating when you get there and whatnot. And thats likely just on the ship side. The actual effort of planetary colonization is wild
English

@daftprinceling This is why I feel there is probably a lot taken in consideration before greenlightning colonization efforts even begin with. Which is probably why I feel my setting despite having a species that managed to take to the starts I think it is *very* disjointed
English

@daftprinceling Yeah that really does seem like a very interesting planet to be on with such day and night fluctuations
English

@Freakaster69 When the planet was exactly between them like this you'd see one sun set while the other rises. That's probably pretty magical.
English

@Freakaster69 you're welcome. I saw your post and realised I should probably be thinking about this too. My stellar system's pretty complicated so some of these planets might have some unusual looking skies.

English

@daftprinceling Thanks for the visualization! It actually really helps a lot seeing it this way. Really helpful advice. Thank you ^^
English

@Freakaster69 Example 2: Both stars are in a close orbit and the planet orbits both of them. In this case the two stars basically act like a single sun, rising and setting at aproximately the same time. Like Tatooine. Would appear to dance around eachother in the sky, pretty quickly too.

English

@MrrMonsterr600 Keyword, played*. I havent touched that game in a while lmfao
English

@Eldritch_Bunny That has been my main gripe with any interstellar authority or body in sci fi. Not that I hate it, but its moreso the thought, "Wait, wouldnt the process be like, incredibly fucking tedious?". Which is why the setting has some of frontier planets successfully declaring freedom
English

@Freakaster69 Yeah this is why maintaining an interstellar power base is a massive pain in the ass. If a planet or system is relatively self-sufficient and has enough force to say “fuck off” then suddenly that colony is now its own entity. And that move gives other planets ideas
English

@Precascer The story follows a one very specific species known as the Kyozen, an anthropomorphic canine species! Theres a lot to explain, and hopefully considering people are eager to see what I make, will continue to make more
English

@Freakaster69 Space furries, yey :D what are the races you have so far? I'm a sucker for space opera
English

@Sebby_IsCute The "power" they have is very much dimished a lot more. Sometimes you can appear strong, but we all know looks can be deceiving
English

@Sebby_IsCute In general, a lot of the countries and planets of the setting are richer then any nation on earth, but only on statistics. If we had things like landing infrastructure, ship building areas, manufacturing of specialized equipment FOR said ships, maintain a stable national budget
English

@Freakaster69 Hm, so despite being a unified government it needs to politically divide to account for its massive logistical demands which regressed it back (or lower) to something akin to Earth's politics, just mostly federations of different ideologies?
English

@Sebby_IsCute So, while technology would advance, it would still be to a degree slow. An active regression to prioritize other sectors or needs
English

@Sebby_IsCute THIS can backfire of course. The sheer logistical need and manpower to do this, makes these governments all into different flavor of federations with a slight ideological alignment continental wise
