I don’t find this funny at all.
A lot of talents are being taken advantage of and it's seems 'normal' but it's not.
Please before you accept any remote role, ask how your work will be measured. Some roles sound fine at first. Yunno clear title, decent pay, friendly calls.
Then the work starts. And suddenly: the goal keeps moving
“Just one more thing” becomes normal. Feedback is vague. Nothing is ever really done. You’re tired, but you can’t point to what went wrong.
Most times it happens because success was never clearly defined.
So before you say yes, ask:
- What does “good work” look like here?
- How will results be reviewed?
- What’s considered out of scope?
Small questions now save a lot of stress later.
If you’ve worked online for a while, please share other quiet red flags you’ve noticed. Let’s help someone avoid learning the hard way.

Day 18/40 days to @blockfestafrica . here is a little sad BTS truth about outreach. not every public proposal gets a reply. not every DM gets seen. not every “this is interesting” turns into a deal. fun fact? I’ve reached out to 50+ projects so far… and maybe ~20% have responded. some conversations go cold. some disappear halfway. sost probably never even saw the message (X DMs are… yeah 😅) and honestly? It can be slow, frustrating even. but this is part of it. But this series isn’t just about the wins; it’s also about showing the process as it is: the follow-ups, the silence, the almost-deals still showing up...still building...still counting down ~23 days to Blockfest. They said it's never too late to say "gm," so yeah, a lovely weekend, beautiful people.
