Plans to double the time migrants have to wait before they're allowed to settle permanently in Britain could be watered down, according to reports.
The Home Office says it should take 10 years before those already here in the UK can seek indefinite leave to remain. But the former Deputy Prime Minister and rumoured leadership contender, Angela Rayner, has called that "un-British."

An urgent public health alert has been issued over the deadly meningitis outbreak in Kent that's already claimed two lives. As work resumes this morning to vaccinate 5,000 students, a case has now been confirmed at a second university in the area.
That brings the number of suspected or confirmed cases to 20. But the UK's Health Security Agency says it's "a rapidly evolving situation" and it's urging health workers across the whole of England to look out for signs of the infection.

11-year-old Tony Hudgell, who had both legs amputated after being assaulted by his birth parents has won his campaign for a new child cruelty register. Parents guilty of neglect will now face similar monitoring to sex offenders and lasting consequences for their actions.

The UK Health Security Agency is investigating 20 cases of meningitis - 9 of those are confirmed cases - following the outbreak that started in Kent.

The Meningitis outbreak in Kent is now being treated as a 'national-level' incident, with the head of the UK Health Security Agency calling the explosive nature of it 'unprecedented'.
15 cases of Meningitis B have been confirmed so far - with two people dying from the disease. A nine-month old baby girl has also been admitted to a children's hospital in London after becoming unwell and is reported to be facing life changing surgery.
