@Lizziesaurus Not at all, but primary school attendees are normally "pupil", third level would be "student", secondary can be "pupil" or "student" but "student" sounds older. In the Enoch Burke case, it' a 15-year old boy. RTE were previously consistent, AFAIK, with "student" characterisation

Bethehokey! Ahead of Enoch Burke appeal of his dismissal today, RTE now says Enoch was "told" to use pronouns etc. Previously, RTE has, and stand to be corrected on this, always used the characterisation "request", right. And RTE now uses the word "pupil" and not "student"!

@IrishRail It’s when it is from the driver instead of the automated one that is the problem. Only seems to be one driver who does it.

@realJosiahBurke Enoch Burke is teaching and following the Queens English and the Holy Bible of language namely the Oxford Dictionary. "They" is not a pronoun referencing one person. What was the point of creating a dictionary if it can be bastardized by an institution for teaching children.

The Gardaí arrived on the driveway of our home this evening to hunt down my brother. He won’t use the “they” pronoun for a child. This is a shameful, shameful moment.

My beautiful partner of 12 years passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning. I’m utterly broken. I love you so much @Thomas_Smith90 I don’t really know why I’m posting this here - neither of us posted much - but some may knock w him and I am sorry for all our loss.
