@BieksasBurner Looks like Foote has been more intentional with Ep40's zone starts. Probably due to the non-NHL centre depth the Canucks had for the majority of the season Def Zone Starts are at a career high, career low in on the fly starts

@Hamalytics what do you think is happening here? 1. bad team = more time in dzone 2. rookie coach unaware his deployment is negatively impacting ep40s gas tank? intention could be in the right place trying to get him more ice time, but wrong deployment?

Couple other factors, from January 31st -> end of 23/24 season, Pettersson's: • hits/60 went down • shots/game went way down (2.79 -> 2.12) • ice-time went down by about half a shift per game Changing how the #1 ranked team in the league is playing to the point where just about no one is affected except your best forward, who is top-5 in the NHL in points, just doesn't make sense to me. Shot rates going down also make sense considering the Canucks 1. relied on counter attacks (not a forcible offensive strategy), had an AHL goalie in net, and how often they happened to miss the net that series (41% of shots on target vs ~60% on target in reg. season via @MikeKellyNHL). It's also worth mentioning the eye test showed Pettersson playing a lot slower after the all-star break, which is the antithesis of Tocchet hockey. Everything negative he's said about Michkov and Pettersson has been primarily about a lack of pace to their games.
