The teams that should worry aren't the ones getting leaked. They're the ones with nothing worth leaking.

Anthropic leaked Claude Code's entire source. 512K+ lines of TypeScript. A source map in the npm package. Second time in a year. Everyone's reverse-engineering it. I don't think it matters much.

Code can be copied in weeks. Product intuition takes years. AI just made code nearly free. If your competitive advantage lives in source files, you don't have one.

Their telemetry tracks when users swear at Claude. A frustration metric. That's not a code decision. That's a product decision. You can't copy that from a GitHub repo.

I use Claude Code daily. I've looked through the leak. The code is clean. None of that's why I use it. Code tells you WHAT they built. Not WHY.

Stop putting "upgrade Ruby" in the backlog under nice to have. Put it in the risk register.

Ruby 3.2 dies today. Rails patched 10 critical vulnerabilities this month. If you're on 7.0 or 7.1, you got zero of those fixes.

The upgrade from Rails 7 to 8 takes 1-2 weeks. The breach response takes months. Pick your timeline.

Teams keep framing runtime upgrades as "tech debt." It's not tech debt. It's a security incident that hasn't happened yet.

Path traversal. XSS. Denial of service. All patched for supported Rails versions. All wide open on yours.

Ten or fifteen years ago, test-driven development was considered a near requirement for serious developers. I don't see it discussed nearly as much these days. Everyone recognizes the value of tests, but the "test first" evangelism is almost completely gone.
