First observed in 1882 and established as a federal holiday in 1894 during a time of growing labor unrest, it affirmed a lasting truth: this nation’s strength is built on the labor of its people. It is a moment to pause and reflect on the value of hard work, the dignity it carries, and the ripple effect it creates in our families, neighborhoods, and communities. Labor Day also reminds us that REST is part of labor—it sustains our efforts. How fitting, then, that this day is recognized as a holiday for the entire nation to pause, honor work, and embrace renewal. It also echoes the original labor movement’s call for better conditions and greater opportunity. Today’s Reuters report warns that hurricane risks along the Gulf Coast are intensifying. Con el objetivo de empoderar a los consumidores y promover un acceso equitativo a la energía renovable, DACO e IBTS han firmado un Memorando de Entendimiento (MOU, en inglés) por tres años con una misión compartida: ⚒️ Desarrollar y ofrecer capacitación técnica para el personal de DACO, instaladores e inspectores bajo el programa SHINE, financiado por el Departamento de Energía de EE. UU. (DOE). ☀️ Educar a los consumidores a través de campañas que les ayuden a evaluar compañías, entender contratos y detectar prácticas engañosas. 🏛️ Apoyar a la Oficina de Energía Renovable de DACO (Orden 2022‑018) con materiales educativos basados en datos y alineados con la normativa legal. 👏 Reforzar esfuerzos como el Programa Acceso Solar, que promueve la inclusión de hogares de bajos y medianos ingresos en la transición energética de Puerto Rico.
