@Iralgor I'm not surprised. People lay into him without even checking his channels. He's been playing these games for a very long time. And to be fair, the vitriol, personal attacks and threats he has recieved have been insane, just for a critique. And most of his stuff is quite tame tbh

@hopefulllyyy Sincerely, his critique looked more like a tourist take that only plays those 3 games, because he made it look like there were no games that brought the same experience as FF, and getting very defensive to a random with a meme downloaded from Google doesn't help him either.

If a game can’t break out of its niche, that’s the game’s fault. Not the player’s
I’m not saying the games in-between are bad (whatever they might be)
But I am saying that none captured the world’s attention the way FF7-X did, until Expedition 33

@hopefulllyyy Yeah I know that, but Square Enix does not see it that way, if you ask for a new FF like 6 or 9 they will point to other games such as the Bravely and Octopath series. For them, those games are all of us are asking for FF but the name.

@Eruda101 @Sebbywebz Maybe? I think Square Enix saw that and started course correcting their PS/Epic Games exclusivity and putting their efforts in porting their recent games to other consoles/steam. I bought FF Strangers in Paradise like 1-2 years later in steam because it was a EGS exclusive.

@Iralgor @Sebbywebz If i recall correctly E33 was shown in xbox showcase very briefly and there was no heavy marketing on it after that. The game just released and we know what happened later.

@hopefulllyyy He was talking about how SE was not giving what FF was offering initially, while, as you and I said, they had with other new franchises, which where made in response to that need. The problem is using E33 as the sole option when we still have more, like SMT, Xeno's and alike.

@Iralgor No, that's not how the analogy works.
The others that Square also made are like other menu options. But people come to the restaurant for Final Fantasy (at least they did). The comparison is Final Fantasy to another product from a different restaurant.

@hopefulllyyy If the discussion is about FF why bring E33 then? If whe use his food analogy (lol) there is a little branch in the FF kitchen that made Octopus Traveller, Bravely Default and Dragon Quest XI, which pretty much uses the unchanged recipe.

lo mas gracioso de todo esto es que, por toda la polémica, la comunidad se puso a revisar la traducción oficial al japones de undertale y descubrieron que esta hecha con las patas
