Roy Keane on Turkey losing 2-0 to Australia national soccer team in their World Cup opener:
🗣️ “I don't want to hear excuses. Before the match, everyone was talking about Turkey as if the three points were already in the bag. Well, football doesn't care about predictions.
Australia looked like a team playing for their lives. Turkey looked like a team waiting for something to happen. That's the difference. One side competed, the other side expected.
What annoys me most is the attitude. You can forgive mistakes. You can forgive missed chances. But you cannot forgive a lack of urgency at a World Cup.
Australia won the physical battle, the mental battle, and in key moments they won the football battle too. That's embarrassing if you're Turkey because they were supposed to be the team making the statement tonight.
Some players will look at the tactics, some will blame luck, and some will point fingers elsewhere. Nonsense. Start by looking in the mirror. World Cups are not won by talent alone.
The harsh reality is this: Australia arrived believing they could win. Turkey arrived believing they should win. One mindset creates history. The other creates headlines like this.”

Zlatan Ibrahimović on the challenge involving Achraf Hakimi and Vinícius Júnior:
🗣️ “Listen, I’ve seen a lot in football, but that moment tonight is one of those incidents that will be debated for a long time. Hakimi is a top player, Vinícius Junior is one of the most dangerous attackers in the world, and when those two meet at full speed, things can get ugly fast.
When I saw the challenge, my first reaction was simple — that is a moment where the referee has to be in control. It is not about reputation, it is not about timing in the match, it is about protection. The attacker is gone, the danger is clear, and the contact is late.
In my opinion, in modern football, that is exactly the type of situation where consistency is missing. Sometimes it is a yellow, sometimes a red, sometimes nothing. That confusion is what frustrates players and fans.
I am not saying anyone intended to injure anyone. But intention is not the only thing that matters. The action itself has consequences, and referees are there to judge the action, not the outcome after.
What makes it worse is the inconsistency. If you give that as a red card in one game, you must give it in every game. Otherwise, players don’t know where the line is anymore.
And that is the problem in football right now — not the tackles themselves, but the confusion around what is allowed and what is not.”

Ronaldinho on Morocco dominating Brazil so far:
🗣️ “I'm not angry because Morocco are playing well. I'm angry because Brazil are playing like they expected the game to be easy.
Every second ball is going to Morocco. Every challenge looks more important to them. Right now, they look hungrier, sharper, and more determined than Brazil.
What frustrates me is that this is the World Cup. You don't earn respect because you're Brazil. You earn it by running harder, fighting harder, and showing more desire than your opponent.
Morocco are making Brazil look uncomfortable, and that's a warning sign. Too many players are waiting for someone else to take responsibility instead of imposing themselves on the match.
If this continues, Brazil won't lose because Morocco were lucky. They'll lose because Morocco wanted it more. And for a Brazilian team, that's the hardest thing to accept.
The badge on the shirt is famous, but the shirt doesn't play. The players do. And right now, Morocco are teaching Brazil a lesson they should have already known.”

🚨 Chelsea fans won't believe this... but Morgan Rogers actually wants Chelsea.
I've been saying it for days now, and the feedback coming back remains positive. A lot of Chelsea fans won't believe it because we missed out on European football, but Chelsea will always be Chelsea. The club still has pull, the badge still speaks, and I genuinely believe there will be a marquee signing this summer. Morgan Rogers could very well be that statement signing.
From what I'm hearing, Rogers likes Xabi Alonso, likes his style of football, and believes his game can reach another level under an attack-minded coach. He wants to play alongside Cole Palmer, his childhood friend, and the idea of linking up with players like Caicedo, Joao Pedro, Estevao and the rest of this talented squad is something that appeals to him. More importantly, he reportedly prefers the footballing vision under Xabi Alonso over what Arsenal are currently offering.
Now the big hurdle remains the fee because Aston Villa won't make this easy. But from the player's side, there appears to be no issue with representing Chelsea. This is definitely one to watch closely because if Chelsea are willing to spend the money, the interest looks very real from both sides.

Chelsea fans, if you could only sign one this summer, Morgan Rogers or Adam Wharton?

Ousmane Dembélé when asked if winning the World Cup with France national football team this year could make him a Ballon d’Or winner again:
🗣️ “Look, when you’re talking about the Ballon d’Or, you’re talking about moments, not just seasons. And the World Cup is the biggest moment in football there’s no stage above it.
People can debate club form, stats, and trophies all they want, but when you step into a World Cup and decide games for your country, everything gets magnified. That’s where reputations are truly made or broken.
I’ve had seasons where I’ve won big things at club level, and that already puts you in the conversation. But the truth is, international tournaments are what push you from being great to being remembered.
So if you go there and win it, and you’re decisive in the big matches, then of course it puts you right back in that Ballon d’Or discussion. That’s just how football works.
But none of it is automatic. You don’t win awards by talking about them you win them by showing up when the pressure is highest and delivering when it matters most.”

IShowSpeed after being kicked off a FOX Sports panel by Zlatan Ibrahimović for saying Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal could win the World Cup:
🗣️ “I can't lie, I thought he was joking at first. All I said was that Portugal can win the World Cup, and suddenly I'm being treated like I committed a crime.
People keep acting like believing in Ronaldo is some kind of outrageous opinion. We're talking about one of the greatest players to ever touch a football. If backing a player with that résumé is controversial, then football has become very strange.
What surprised me wasn't the disagreement it was the reaction. You can argue against Portugal, you can say another team is your favourite, but kicking someone out for having an opinion? That tells me the statement hit a nerve.
The funny thing is that every World Cup starts the same way. Certain teams get written off, certain players get doubted, and then a few weeks later everyone pretends they never said it. I've seen that story too many times.
So yes, I'm still saying it. Portugal have the talent, the experience, and the mentality to go all the way. And if they do, I wonder how many people are going to suddenly remember they believed in them from the start.
Until then, people can laugh, disagree, or even kick me off another panel. My answer isn't changing.”
