My reaction to the pictures of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini in the New York Post: I have had my suspicions about them, based on her reporting, for over four years. And in 2023, Houston caught wind that the Titans were planning to trade up for CJ Stroud at 3 from a Russini report and took him at 2…

The Big Ten now owns college sports. Three straight college football titles and the trifecta this year: a football title and men’s and women’s titles too. This is the first Big Ten men’s title since 2000, it has been a long time in the title wilderness.

Nick Saban could write his suggestions about how to fix college sports on the back of a napkin and sign his name to it, and that would be more impactful than today’s Executive Order. The President’s EO is just “sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

The president has no authority to hand down any rules restricting college athletes' eligibility, prohibiting them from transferring schools, or restricting their ability to play. This is just an overweening exercise of executive power that will be blocked in court.

President Trump’s executive order on college sports is below. Three key provisions: 1. Five years of total eligibility 2. Only “one” free transfer without sitting. 3. No players can return from pros. Goes into effect on 8/1. Common sense & solid: whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

@KYHSHistory He doesn’t. This has no legal effect whatsoever. Just a publicity stunt for those who don’t understand 4th grade civics.

Attorney @TomMarsLaw to @FOS on the enforceability of Trump's EO: "That sounds like a worthy goal. But an executive order like that would be no more enforceable than Nick Saban scribbling that new rule on a yellow legal pad and then signing his name." frontofficesports.com/trump-executiv…

On the President's Executive Order on college sports: The NCAA, Conferences and schools will cheer it; Student advocates and some state AGs will fight it. The bigger question is whether it provides an impetus for a bill that can make it through all of Congress. We will see..

@anewman35 @KyleTuckerCBB Yeah maybe. Bigger issue is general public’s and sports media’s general lack of understanding of 4th grade civics lessons regarding how laws are passed and which branch of government does what.

@JFKirtley @KyleTuckerCBB It has no legal effect, but it doesn’t mean the NCAA or some organization that wants to try to get on Trump’s good side would decide to start following it and then it would all be a mess when the lawsuits started.

The gist of what happened today: Transfer portal season is now a hot mess, because nobody is going to know whether this executive order will be struck down in court (probably, but not certainly). If you're a multi-transfer ... what do you do?
