My latest is live, just in time for getting your Annual Plan together for 2026. In it, I answer the all-important question... "Just how aggressive should I be when ramping my training load?" The answer (duh!)... Sensibly Aggressive. Read on for more... 👇

"At what point is an athlete too fit to get fitness benefit from walking?" 🌲🚶 At no point. I've run regression analyses on walking volume vs VO2max improvement in very fit athletes - 70+ml/kg/min &, even for them, walking volume *adds* to their VO2max Every body should walk!

5 ways why High intensity exercise suppresses lipolysis and fat oxidation: 1) Lactate, produced in high amounts during intense exercise, inhibits lipolysis via GPR81 (HCAR1) activation in adipocytes, lowering cAMP and suppressing HSL. This is a classic endocrine effect. 2) At an autocrine level, lactate directly inhibits CPT1 and CPT2 (shown in our work-link below), impairing mitochondrial fatty acid transport and oxidation. 3) Malonyl-CoA also rises at high intensity, further blocking CPT1 and fat entry into mitochondria. 4) Catecholamines surge, but in adipose tissue, α₂-adrenergic receptors dominate, inhibiting lipolysis, especially in visceral fat. 5) High intensity exercise calls for glycolysis instead of FATox and this is the very reason why lactate is produced. NAD+ would be depleted in the cytosol and glycolysis would stop. The reduction of pyruvate to lactate is the only way to rescue NAD+ for the continuation of glycolysis.

If I demoralize you, you'd be crazy not to hit unfollow! If I challenge you in a way that just might have a positive impact on your life, stick around! Plenty more where that came from! 😊

As a mere social media influencer, and in light of the new paper that was just released, I strongly encourage all of the competitors to the athletes that I coach to stay "evidence-based" and immediately replace their low-intensity training with z5 training. Thank you.

If you're seeing your weight slowly 📈over time, you have 4 options: a) Move a lot more (train for an Ironman 🤔) b) Restrict your food in some way. c) Some combination of a & b d) Bench Press a few times a week and convince yourself "it's all muscle" They are your options.

Plusieurs se demandent comment Poilievre a fait pour perdre dans son propre comté? Il y avait plus de 80 candidats qui se présentaient dans son comté. Qui avait vraiment intérêt à semer la confusion chez les électeurs? Vous avez compris! #Poilievre #LiberalsHateCanada
