I thought Alien: Romulus was really great for about 45 minutes (with one big spoilery thing I hated) before going off the rails at quite a delirious but steady clip, but hey, it’s gooey and jump scarey and I mostly had fun (mostly) and David Jonsson is absolutely wonderful.

Unstoppable is still my fave, tho. I just don’t get bored of watching that film.

I saw Déjà Vu for the first time (or did I?) last night and god I miss Denzel Washington - Tony Scott collabs. He doesn’t just provide an anchor for Scott’s visual wildness, he does some of his best work within it. Perfect actor-director pairing. (Also Val Kilmer is ace in it)

This is one of the most insane theater displays i’ve ever seen! Imagine walking down the street and seeing this gigantic Xenomorph #AlienRomulus

filmmaking is so damn cool

Saw Jane Schoenbrun’s I Saw The TV Glow last night. Ooof my heart. Beautiful, shattering, eerie, brought tears to my eyes. Loved it, it’s definitely going to stick with me.

It’s funny, eXistenZ is far from my favourite Cronenberg (although I do have a massive soft spot for it), but random moments and lines from it pop into my head so often. Definitely due a rewatch.

Charles Cyphers has passed away. He was an early and frequent collaborator with me on my early movies. A kind man, he was a friend. I shall miss him.

There aren’t a lot of new franchise movies I get giddily excited about these days but goddammit, can Alien: Romulus just hurry up and be in the cinemas already?
