The fact that a major airline is shutting down completely is a real indicator of the state of our economy. No merger, no buyout, no restructuring they just SHUT DOWN operations entirely. That’s an insane move in an industry as large and established as aviation.
When companies that big can’t sustain themselves, it reflects deeper issues happening across the board and says a lot about the current state of things. Hello?!

Losing Spirit Airlines is a big deal. Low budget airlines are essential to keeping travel affordable, and without them, millions of people will simply be priced out of flying. Competition matters, and when low-cost carriers disappear, everyone pays the price.
