Not gonna lie these 2026 FIA changes dont really help Red Bull Racing much. They’re already struggling with an unstable, “undriveable” car + weak energy efficiency… and now less harvesting + stricter deployment just makes it worse. Even Max Verstappen can’t carry this rn 💀
RBR Hub@RBRHub

🚨 Refinements to the 2026 FIA Formula 1 regulations Qualifying - promoting performance Adjustments to energy management parameters, including a reduction in maximum permitted recharge from 8MJ to 7MJ, aimed at reducing excessive harvesting and encouraging more consistent flat-out driving. This change targets a maximum superclip duration reduced to approximately 2-4 seconds per lap. Peak superclip power increased to 350 kW, previously being 250kW, further reducing the time spent recharging, and reducing driver workload on energy management. This will also be applied in Race conditions. The number of events where alternative lower energy limits may apply has been increased from 8 to 12 races, allowing greater adaptation to circuit characteristics. Race - improved safety and consistency of performance The maximum power available through the Boost in race conditions is now capped at +150 kW (or the car’s current power level at activation if higher) limiting sudden performance differentials. MGU-K deployment is maintained at 350 kW in key acceleration zones (from corner exit to braking point, including overtaking zones) but will be limited to 250 kW in other parts of the lap. These measures are designed to reduce excessive closing speeds while maintaining overtaking opportunities and overall performance characteristics. Race starts - enhanced safety mechanisms A new “low power start detection” system has been developed, capable of identifying cars with abnormally low acceleration shortly after clutch release. In such cases, an automatic MGU-K deployment will be triggered to ensure a minimum level of acceleration and mitigate start-related risks without introducing any sporting advantage. An associated visual warning system is being introduced, activating flashing lights (rear and lateral) on affected cars to alert following drivers. A reset of the energy counter at the start of the formation lap has also been implemented to correct a previously identified system inconsistency. Wet conditions – improving safety and visibility Tyre blanket temperatures for intermediate tyres have been increased following driver feedback in order to improve initial grip and tyre performance in wet conditions. Maximum ERS deployment will be reduced, limiting torque and improving car control in low-grip conditions. The rear light systems have been simplified, with clearer and more consistent visual cues to improve visibility and reaction time for following drivers in poor conditions. These final proposals will now be put before a FIA WMSC e-vote with a view to implementation before the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, except for the race starts proposals which will be tested and analysed during that weekend. 🚨| New F1 rules: inevitable side effects: — The FIA’s latest technical changes have sparked mixed reactions, with limited room for major revisions because of existing agreements and homologation constraints. Speaking to the media, one insider summed it up bluntly: “The patch is worse than the hole.” — The removal of the MGU-H and the greater reliance on electrical power has left the system in an energy deficit, changing how performance is delivered through the lap. The Federation is trying to rebalance that deficit, but every adjustment creates trade-offs. As one expert noted: “Each resource that is moved perhaps solves a problem but necessarily creates a new one.” — One major change cuts recoverable energy from 8 to 7 MJ to reduce lift-and-coast. However, this also means the electrical energy available to drivers will run out sooner. A technical analyst commented: “The energy of the electrical part available to drivers will run out even earlier.” — Superclipping peak power rises from 250 kW to 350 kW, making the effect shorter but more abrupt, with a sharper drop in thrust once deployment ends. A source explained: “We will have a Formula 1 car at 300 km/h… then suddenly with the thrust of a small car.” — The number of events with restrictive energy limits rises from 8 to 12, so both the benefits and drawbacks of these changes will be seen more often across the calendar. A spokesperson remarked: “On many tracks we will see the beneficial effects but also the side effects mentioned above in an even more obvious way.” — For safety, Boost mode is now capped at 150 kW, while MGU-K deployment is also being limited in certain sections of the lap. A critic observed: “Drivers will find themselves in cars that will have about 135 hp more or less depending on the stretch of the track.” — Proposed start changes include automatic electrical assistance to avoid very slow launches, but doubts remain. As one engineer warned: “This particular system leaves us with more than a few doubts.” #f12026 VIA: [formulapassion]

🔥 BREAKING 🔥 An Australian teenager who died after eating beef sausages on a camping trip has been confirmed as the first person in Australia to die from a ‘tick-induced meat allergy’. Since 2020, cases of this allergy have increased by 40%. In 2016, World Economic Forum member and bioethicist Matthew Liao spoke about using genetic engineering or tick-based methods to induce a “meat allergy” in people as a way to reduce meat consumption for ‘environmental reasons’.
