Thought today would be a good day to bump this thread i wrote about the the role the Olympic Games have always played in upholding dominant social hierarchies and fomenting hypernationalism. The sanctity of the Olympic movement is a myth!

First, you have to understand that the modern Olympic Games, founded by Pierre Baron de Coubertin and first held in 1896, from their inception were a tool for nationalistic fervor. The Olympics were inherently exclusionary, and their early history is inextricable from elitism.

I'm unclear when their relationship started. If they really did start dating in 2019, I do think that initial age gap is questionable. But, my best guess is they started dating around the time Marin deleted/limited comments on her IG posts. I think around 2020, not sure tho.

That's all I can gather about their relationship. The public information they've revealed has been pretty sparse so far, since they clearly wanted to keep it private, but I expect they will talk more openly about it now that they are skating together as an ice dance team.
