Most US states require a license to carry a gun. A few don’t. Statistically it makes no difference in the homicide rate. The US is more violent than most of Europe but less violent than most others American countries, even ones with strict gun laws like Mexico. 90% of the violent crime in the US is in urban areas but 90% of the guns are in rural areas.

Then start restricting assault rifles and higher caliber weapons, put them behind a licence wall for hunting. Etc etc, it's about small changes at a time, and it'll take 50 years+

Our crime rates are still remarkably low, and are in line with most of Europe. They are nowhere close to the USA, but that's probably because everyone carries guns.

Yes you did. Handguns weren’t outlawed in England until after the First World War. When you were a high trust low crime society with a whole generation of men trained to kill suffering from PTSD it made sense to get rid of the guns. Now that you are becoming a low trust, high crime society you might want to think about letting responsible law abiding citizens arm themselves.
