Happy Maryland Day! Today marks the 392nd anniversary of the landing of the Ark and Dove in 1634 and the arrival of the first European settlers in Maryland. Maryland became the 7th state to join the union in 1788. The first Maryland State Fair was held in 1879 in Timonium with a brief interruption when the fairground was used as a WWII U.S. Army vehicle depot.
Mark your calendars for the three big weekends of the 145th Maryland State Fair when you can visit the museum to learn more about the Fair’s fascinating history from August 27-30; September 3-7; and September 10-13. marylandstatefair.com
