@BattleCattleFan Honest question: is the PAC12 ever not going to be considered kiddie pool? I’m hopeful for the best, but I do worry about change happening at too fast a pace for our fan base to digest. At some point people can’t justify the cost or are turned off by traditions dying.

Sharon McMahon also started a gofundme for Ruby Freeman and her daughter. You know, the two ladies from GA who were on video taking ballots from under tables and scanning after everyone had already gone home with no oversight. After their Jan 6th testimony, Sharon went on her IG in tears for these woman asking her supporters to donate to a gofundme in order to help them rebuild their lives. When I commented "what did Ruby say about the ballots under tables" Sharon blocked me. I may have the screenshots somewhere.

I guess I can say this kind of stuff now. I’m not for this. Atmosphere won’t be the same. I understand money drives all, but this just tells me there will be more change coming. Sad Day

@daltonkf68 @salvytot A.D. just got here. I’m sure I’m not the only lifetime Aggie fan who views altering the Spectrum as essentially the nuclear option. You might please some mid-level donors who fill in those premium seats, but I’d be more concerned about pleasing the masses & folks like Jim Laub.

I agree with this. It’s easy to look at the decision to move the HURD through a basketball-only lens, but the reality is every decision in basketball impacts every other sport on campus. These have to be viewed as macro-level decisions about sustaining success across the entire department. The ugliest version of the question when it comes to moving the HURD is this: Would you cut NIL/funding to women’s basketball or other sports to keep the HURD in the same place? And that’s just one of dozens of tradeoffs that sit on the edges of a decision like this—most of which aren’t immediately visible. Revenue has to be captured wherever it can, and the reality at USU is that it’s going to come from changes in basketball or football. There isn’t another place for it to come from.

This is not only a positive revenue effect for Men’s Basketball but Women’s Basketball just like a tag team, and in doing so it gives a boost to both Ben Jacobsen and Wes Brooks financially to build a roster. Brooks lost Sophie Sene at a price tag of just a smidge under SIX FIGURES! With the help of this community supporting the basketball sport as a whole then both sides can be competitive in the new PAC-12, by retaining their current roster and building even bigger in the future.

I get that the students are the first to go at other schools when you’re scrambling for money, but it’s different here, and every administration I’ve covered has been hell bent on learning that the hard way. I won’t be surprised if this new map causes significant friction once people see it in person, especially with what will be a bunch of empty courtside seats for most if not all early season games.

But a walk-out mid-game isn’t gonna do anything. Plus it’s Mason and KTs last year in the spec… they deserve the support from our fans.

If we don’t fight for the @usuHURD now, we can kiss what it once was goodbye. Bending over dollars to pick up dimes. Larger donors will be more inclined to go all in if the place is actually still rockin’ not just next year but 10, 20 years from now.

We should care more about keeping that building’s magic intact than keeping Nick Eliason happy.

The people who support this decision are the people employed by the athletic department and the chumps who want to fill the newly vacant seats. All it takes is one or two mediocre year and we can end up back in Duryea’s Spectrum.

The Hurd will still be great, but it won't be the same. Everywhere has baseline student seating. That sideline section the Hurd had got in players' heads and was one of the best, most underrated (not under appreciated by me) weapons out west. Money wins out on this one.
