The Club is proud to support one of our own, Colin Phillips (Grandad), with a bucket collection at our home game this Saturday 17th January for his granddaughter, Jaymee.
Jaymee has many disabilities. She cannot walk and has the use of a wheel chair, needs to be fed through a tube, has muscle waisting in her arms and cannot communicate well. Having pulled back from his volunteer work with the club, he now spends a large amount of time with Jaymee and taking her for hospital appointments. Jaymee has been offered the chance of being fitted with a brace to strengthen her spine and possibly allow her to stand with an aid. She has already gone through a difficult operation to break and then realine her feet to support the fitting of the brace and now needs physio twice a week for at least 2 months at ยฃ95 per week. Colin has begun to pay for this, but his funds are not exhaustive.
In Colin's own words
"Jaymee is our beautiful granddaughter. She is 6 years old and has several disabilities. She has in her little life been through so much. She has been in and out of hospital. In 2025 she had 3 operations among other things but inspite of this she is a happy little girl and smiles through it all. We do all we can to help her. She has a little 4 year old sister Daisy who loves her and helps her very much. She is our little angel and we hope by getting this physio it will help make her stronger"

I paid good money ( as did tens of thousands of England fans) to fly out and watch the Ashes so Iโm furious to learn from The Telegraph that vice captain Harry Brook, one of our most disappointing players, had been fined ยฃ30K and put on a final warning about his conduct after being struck by a bouncer who would not allow him into a nightclub because he suspected he was drunk. The incident happened on October 31 in Wellington, New Zealand, on the eve of a one day international where Brook was actually captaining the side. These ODIs immediately preceded the Ashes tour. Brook was vice captain of the England side throughout the Ashes. How was he allowed to keep that position after the incident? Why did the England hierarchy keep the fine and final warning quiet? And does the relaxed attitude of the England camp explain why Ben Duckett, another tour failure, was seen to be drunk and disorientated in Noosa? The tour was a shambles and itโs time managing director Keys, who kept schtum about the Brooks brawl, coach McCullum and possibly even Stokes who, because of his drinking days has no authority, must all go.
