I am honored to receive the Jeanne S. Chall Research Fellowship! I want to thank ILA for their support of my research on reading specialists’ knowledge of cross-linguistic transfer for K-3 Spanish-speaking MLs. I also want to thank my advisor, Dr. Amendum, and other CEHD faculty.

Had a wonderful time presenting my work at #MCLS2024! Thank you to all who attended our symposium. I discussed how our Fraction Sense Intervention (@dr_nancyjordan) impacted student motivation for fraction learning and is work that I’m very excited about!

We had a beautiful day yesterday for our lab fall gathering--this year a Carnival! Was a fun setting for students and collaborators to form/deepen connections. We are all humans AND researchers; getting to know both helps the work. (@MegBotello pictured playing a carnival game)

New Publication! Help seeking is an important element of #SRL that involves monitoring and control processes and likely involves both perception of a need for help and recognition that seeking help will actually help. We investigated these links in onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/pi… (1/3)

I’ll be sharing our Paper in a Day experience here: the good, the bad, and the ugly! First up, we did some pre-PiaD work, such as reading critical articles and deciding authorship. We also wrote an abstract and picked a target journal

One of my students wrote a brilliant @NSF #GRFP proposal about improving mathematics motivation and received this trash review (other reviews were awesome). This is the kind of nonsense gate-keeping researchers of STEM Ed *should* be trying to fight against. (shared w/permission)

I've just accepted a tenure-track faculty job starting August 2023 in Educational/Developmental Psychology @UWEauClaire!! I am so excited to get back to teaching and feel very grateful to be moving so close to family! 🧵1/x
