Snyder: [Donald Trump] is ludicrously weak, and everything he touches turns to loss. The Knicks hadn't lost for how long before he went to MSG. He tries to help Russia win a war, and even there he fails. It's sort of incredible, his power to turn people into losers.

Snyder: [Donald Trump] is out of his depth. He does not understand anything about negotiation. He does not understand anything about war. He doesn't understand the politics of war. He doesn't understand how war is politics. He thinks it's like a video game or a movie where you push a button and then the other guy surrenders. But war is fundamentally an intense form of politics. And politics is not what he's good at.

Snyder: [Donald Trump] is psychologically incredibly vulnerable to people who are good managers of minds, like Putin, for example, or Netanyahu. And he's easily bribable. And he's bribable for comically small amounts of money ... on the scale of international corruption, you can bribe Trump for petty cash.

Snyder: One of our national fairy tales is that [Donald Trump] is a negotiator or he has some kind of negotiating skills. He does not. He's a charismatic performer who played a negotiator on TV, but he does not have negotiating skills. He's terrible at it.

Snyder: But I personally can't think of an example of a major power that has, as a result of its own choices, lost so much power of every kind, from soft power to hard power, so quickly as the Trump administration has done.

Snyder: Trump is starting stupid wars — he's losing them in ways that are spectacularly obvious to the entire world. That you would fight bad wars and then lose them on your own terms very quickly when you're supposed to be a superpower. That's a symptom. It's a symptom of not having a functional government where plans are reviewed. It's a symptom of oligarchical politics where a few people are making decisions on the basis of either their emotions or how they can make a quick buck.

Snyder: We have a president who is trying to engineer a regime change towards a permanent authoritarian system. That is what's going on. All the evidence is right in front of us. He talks about it pretty much every day in the words, in the tonality. Pretty much all the policy decisions point that way. Just to give an obvious example, the idea of giving the military $1.5T is just, I mean, on its face, it's a bribe so that the military will support him as he tries to rig elections, stay in power forever. That's what he's trying to do.

Tennessee Brando: Every time Donald Trump opens his mouth, he makes a promise that he can't keep. The only promises that he really kept, and the only thing that MAGA really got, was the cruelty and the racism.

Meiselas: While Donald Trump is out there talking about how the US taxpayers will not be giving Iran any money, the MOU between the US and Iran calls for a $300B investment fund to be available to Iran. What that fund really is, is the new security architecture for Iran. When you look through the terms of this MOU, what it does is it removes all sanctions against Iran. It allows Iran to open up its markets to other countries in the Middle East in ways that it wasn't able to before. And it encourages other countries in the Middle East and other countries across the world to make major investments in Iran. The Trump regime went from saying, "We want regime change in Iran," to "Now Iran is a major global power," and Iran is going to be wielding a massive amount of economic influence.

Kind of odd that all the Trump "I’m the boss" clips leave out the part where he enters the room like he's part of the South Korean delegation, blindly following Lee Jae Myung to his seat.

"He really can't accomplish the most basic of functions on the world stage, let alone actually be involved in policy and coherent speeches." Ben Meiselas reacts to Donald Trump struggling to sit in chairs at the G7.
