@theblessedsalt You have to weigh the reasonability of the enemy, there is no reason to smash a mailbox, what reason is there then to defend them in doing so, making the mailbox smash proof is perfectly reasonable

This post is an excellent litmus test for understanding of just war theory. Despite the fact that I can see how effective this would be, I must oppose it because the damage it would do to my enemy (who bashes in my mailbox) would far outweigh the good of saving my mailbox. Its disproportionality is opposed by our duty in charity (and even justice) to watch out even for the good of our enemies. (Yes, by the way, I have had my mailbox bashed in by random vandals.)

@VeryCoolMike69 @kuriimu_tenshi Just like how when Spiderman myles morales had detailed fabric deformation on ps5, but on the ps4 version they were able to turn it off. People act like all graphical progress is forced on developers and it detracts from gameplay in any way, the gameplay is an entire other issue.

@MonNightMurray @kuriimu_tenshi The problem is that it might be another Raytracing situation, came out first like 8 years go and ran like shit for years, only now after 8 that everyone has a PC that can run it at decent framerates

Denying the continued decline of the quality of gameplay in AAA gaming is not doing gaming any favors. Fidelity gains are net losses if they cost gameplay.

@ate_0_ate @kuriimu_tenshi I think broad statements like gameplay continues to decline is overly negative, there are good games coming out, just like bad games have always come out. Fidelity improving is atleast a positive across the board

@MonNightMurray @kuriimu_tenshi Fair enough. I just find this pursuit of mimicking reality to be short-sighted and detrimental to the concept of games-as-art. I can see no use for something like this outside of more bland movie games. Gameplay continues to decline while fidelity goes up. It's frustrating.
