It’s usually dense with creators and fans from around the world, so a lot of creators get assigned booths so that fans can line up, do photos, buy their prints, play their demos, and so on. It’s often packed with devs, artists, voice actors etc

Theres the whole like japanese perspective on media piracy argument going on, and the one thing i keep seeing is "but do you not realize that pirating harms the company?" and I dont think alot of them realize in the west we LOVE seeing companies get harmed, even ones we like

You can say that Japan has higher quality games, and I’d agree with that. But more developers? Hell no, there isn’t even enough people in your country to compare

The creator of Hollow Knight quit his job to make his game and was living on noodles. And developers here also fail. Part of being a creative is taking the risk

For us, popularity overseas is a massive money opportunity, so free exposure to an audience we didn’t even plan to sell to has nothing but benefits for us

That is 20 people that played the game, and I profited from 10 of them instead of the creator. How is that acceptable in Japan’s eyes?

Many of our best companies understand that the best way to get sales to is make spending our cash the more convenient option. We value good service and are more than happy to throw money at companies that treat us well

@fgoa_hagemaru @kagougirai I’d buy the official one. I still have the game, the creator is the one who gets the money, and I like having the games I play neatly gathered in my giant Steam library. Steam itself comes with tons of consumer-friendly features, so owning a game there is very helpful
