Case in point: a young woman reached out to me about an online post she made using an anonymous account. I won’t repeat it, but called for political violence. I told her I didn’t agree with it, the visit was warranted & she never should have posted it. The RCMP paid her a visit: “They got literally everything about my personal data like my old workplace, my phone numbers, my social media accounts, my bank accounts, my debts, my house, etc.” She’s not even in the country. Interpol is now being asked to investigate her. It doesn’t matter where you are on the political spectrum, political violence is not welcome. It will be met with consequences. Do not think an anonymous account will save you from justice. This is a warning message to all Canadians: stop this. Debate. Argue. Discuss. Get mad. Be happy. But no threats or violence. Ever.
