Covid cases numbers will rise again Masking mandates/ restrictions on kids is not the answer Boosting elderly people who have not had covid is answer Map is a clue as to which states will be most impacted. It won't be the dark purple/red Check outmyessay vinayprasadmdmph.substack.com/p/what-happens…

@CiaranFairman Per your article, wasting also links to mitochondrial dysfunction and to Tx impact on Type IIb (glycolytic-fast twitch) vs Type IIa (aerobic) myofibres. More metabolic impacts may be revealed thru correlation w/ Δ in energetic performance of muscle tissue normalized to mass

@CiaranFairman Hormonal therapy may also have significant detrimental and persistent outcomes for breast cancer survivors. Here, changes due to both chemo & hormonal Tx were measured using a cycling ergometer as peak energetic power output per lean mass (W/kg lean). rdcu.be/cENdv

A cell videoed through a microscope. DNA in the nucleus (green) and the powerhouses/overlords of the cell, mitochondria (purple), are shown. If your biology teacher taught you that mitochondria look like little beans, you now know better. #Science #Biology #CellBiology #Art

Great point, AND It’s more than red flags & recurrence There are persistent tx side effects & emerging late effects that cause functional morbidity… ⭐️ Measurable gait/balance deficits persist YEARS after chemo. Fall Risk is 30% greater among patients w/hx of neurotoxic chemo 1/
Daniel M. King@dan_wrightpt

@NicoleStoutPT As a PT as well as a cancer patient, I can promise that there are cancer patients out there. They may have no idea (and some do) that still need our help. Red flags mean more than just something we covered in school

Some late night thoughts.I strongly believe that a single supplement like NAD or Rapamycin or intermittent fasting will extend your life is absurd.Metabolic & signaling pathways are so incredibly vast, complex & intertwined that a single supplement or 2 won’t even move the needle

@doctorinigo @CUsportsmed Glad you have a good start to recovery! Here's a Q for tomorrow's 10AM MT Ask Me Anything: - How does metabolic flexibility/fitness upregulate immune response to 1) many cancers (chronic illnesses) and to 2) fractures (acute injuries)? #MedTwitter twitter.com/CUAnschutz/sta…

Crashed bike & broke wrist. Experience was great w/ Dr.Frank Scott at @CUsportsmed due to his amazing knowledge & experience. The point: in these times where science, knowledge & experience are under attack, please appreciate the years & knowledge so may give away for your benefit

What if Medicare (or private insurance) was willing to fund at-home caregiving at $56K/yr, instead of making the $ available for a drug? For a lot of people, I bet it'd lead to better results on every measure of function.
Larry Levitt@larry_levitt

Biogen's new Alzheimer's drug is a poster child for difficult drug pricing issues: It affects many people suffering from a terrible disease or have family members who are. It has an eye-popping price of $56,000 per year. It's not at all clear how well it actually works.
