Things like this are so infuriating. Yes, an incredible amount of money is being spent to make articles freely available. But WAY more - over **40 BILLION DOLLARS** was spent over the same period to provide access to articles that are paywalled. The problem isn't open access - it's the entire corrupt journal system that needs to go.

@KeaauDave @billprady Lol Well, you're right, by definition. River deltas occur at the mouths of rivers (2 in this case) where the rivers flow into another body of water, Suisun Bay, then San Pablo Bay, then San Francisco Bay, and then finally. into the Pacific Ocean.

@billprady Funny, I seem to remember sailing from the Delta, through San Francisco Bay, and OUT TO THE OCEAN! But, maybe that's just me.

This is the Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway. It doesn’t dump water “into the ocean.” It prevents the flooding of Sacramento. From there it goes via the American River into the Delta & the state Water Project. But what does truth matter anymore?

This was one of the most appalling stories I’ve ever looked into: A private equity termite rolled up the fire-truck manufacturing industry between 2016 and 2020—and has spent the last 5 years cashing in: doubling the price of fire apparatus, delaying order deliveries for years on end, and contributing to a crisis of preparedness at fire departments around the country.
