I find it very strange that the Nigerian media do not appear to like making a distinction between the two very different Miyetti Allah groups in Nigeria. Is it that they are not aware? There’s the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and one, then there’s the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH), which was the one that endorsed GEJ for a second term in 2015 and also made him Life Patron. They’re two different groups, often at loggerheads. Whenever you hear any incendiary comments associated with Miyetti Allah, it’s more than likely from MAKH, which often comes across as the more political + militant group. From what I’ve seen in the news, MACBAN has often had to disown or disavow inflammatory statements and comments made by MAKH, while MAKH has also been known to verbally attack MACBAN. Any reporting that does not distinguish between the two groups is either ignorant or malicious. Any journalist who conflates the two, is ignorant, or malicious, or both.
