On 16th March, a delegation of activists from Britain on behalf of Emmaus International Association, travelled to Geneva to address the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council. Nida Jafri, best friend of Amu Gib who is one of the Brize Norton 5, spoke on the British governments failure to uphold human rights obligations in relation to pro-Palestine activists. She drew attention to the government’s usage of counter-terror legislation against freedoms of expression and association.

A-Level Teacher and Ex-Union Representative, Saija Iqbal, faced disciplinary action after participating in a Palestine solidarity boycott initiative. She was smeared in the Jewish Chronicle and a letter was sent to her employer by UK Lawyers For Israel. We spoke with her at @elsclegal’s launch of their Index Of Repression that has documented almost 1000 incidents of anti-Palestinian repression in Britain since 2019. The European Legal Support Centre has been helping Iqbal with her case.

Swiss federal court rules in my favor I welcome the ruling of Switzerland's Federal Administrative Court confirming that a January 2025 entry ban and expulsion order against me were issued despite the absence of any evidence that my speech violated Swiss law or that I posed any threat to Switzerland. In its decision announced today, the court found serious violations of my procedural rights. I believe these measures were intended to silence me. I was held in prison for three days and then deported, preventing me from speaking at two planned events about the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The federal court decision follows similar conclusions by a parliamentary committee whose report was recently endorsed by the Federal Council, Switzerland's national cabinet. In addition, the Zurich Administrative Court ruled in December that my arrest and detention were unconstitutional and violated the European Convention on Human Rights. The federal court decision is final and cannot be appealed. The court awarded me part of my legal costs and reimbursement of my court fees. I will continue to pursue accountability for the abuses I experienced. This includes the criminal complaint I filed against Nicoletta della Valle. She was the director of Fedpol – Switzerland's top police official – who ordered the ban and expulsion. Della Valle, as has been publicly reported, has close ties to Israel. Once again, I thank everyone who has supported my pursuit of accountability. Other than the costs awarded in the cases we have won, all of this litigation – including ongoing criminal cases – is being funded by contributions from individuals.
