Colleges don't need "safe spaces" to shield students from ideas that make them uncomfortable.
They need psychological safety: the freedom for students to take intellectual risks.
Higher education should prepare students to reason with challenging ideas, not rush to censor them.

One of the reasons I'm down on cutting off relatives for political reasons is that I know a lot of this is media-influenced - people are hardening in their views across the board in part because they're being bombarded by divisive for-profit content.
