Had the #Eagles not gotten a deal done with Dallas Goedert, more than $20M in dead money would have hit Philly’s salary cap.
That now gets kicked into the future.
This at least leaves the possibility of trading A.J. Brown open. If Philly trades Brown before June 1, they would take on significant dead cap.
Taking on dead money from Goedert leaving and trading Brown would have been nearly impossible.
Now there is at least a pathway if Philly decides to move him if the right offer comes along.

The #Eagles and TE Dallas Goedert have agreed to a 1-year deal to keep him in Philadelphia. Getting Goedert to sign back also kicks over $20M in potential dead money into future years instead of hitting the 2026 salary cap. This was very important to Philly as well.

After serious conversations with both the Rams and Patriots, the Eagles will not trade A.J. Brown at this time, according to multiple league sources.
Both teams remain interested, but no move is imminent. If a trade were to happen, it would likely heat up closer to June 1.
