@liftblog @holidayvalley Huge props to HV. Another lift transfer is a 1989 Borvig Quad from Massanuten which is going up at Holiday Mountain in Monticello NY. Huge props to Massanuten for not scrapping it.

So cool to see @holidayvalley’s old Mardi Gras quad back in action as the Volcano Express in Chile. Props to HV for not scrapping a perfectly good machine and helping out a smaller mountain. 📸: Andy Pierce

@StormSkiJournal I remember driving up (south east) on rt 17 and my car sliding around on perfectly dry road conditions on a cold night when they were making snow. Seemed like a 20 second snowstorm came out of nowhere

The old double chair you see from NY17 is more billboard than machine: Holiday Mountain demolished the bottom of the chair to make room for tubing last year, and tied the haul rope to keep the chairs in place. Plans are to eventually replace the lift & re-open the terrain.

This is a classic elevation storm…. Elevations about 1,000 feet have 2” to 4”, with heavy snow. Immediate valley areas not much to an inch, but you are changing to snow so it will start accumulating. At my house right now. Just plowed 3.5” of snow. Another world in the hills.

The most successful & impressive family-owned ski areas are those that make small but crucial improvements every year, rather than get distracted by grandiose plans. One of the most consistent with this philosophy is @Plattekill, the best little bomber in NY State. @iskiny
