I’ve built an online CPD-accredited course (20 points) for academics. BECOMING A PROFESSOR is everything I wish someone had for me (from publishing and research strategy, to actioning a delineated strategy, to making the leap into a full professorship). It is not theory. It is the exact roadmap I used (refined over 10+ years). I spent years watching brilliant people struggle to navigate academia, not because they lacked ability, but because hardly anyone showed them how the system actually works. If you are a lecturer, researcher or academic professional who wants to accelerate your path to professorship - this is for you. 🎓 Practical. Immediately applicable. 💻 Online, self-paced and asynchronous. 👉 Link to course: becomingaprofessor.com/course #Academia #HigherEducation #ProfessionalDevelopment #Research #BecomingAProfessor #AcademicLife

WEEK 13: FAILURE [Why do elite athletes often become stronger through failure, while academics often burn out from it?] 🎬 Watch the FULL VIDEO on YouTube: 👉 youtu.be/URE3mb3oCVw In this week of A4 Digest, we explore the science of failure, performance and learning. Drawing from high-performance sport and neuroscience, this video breaks down why failing faster is not reckless (but essential for growth). You’ll learn: 1) Why fast feedback loops accelerate learning 2) How elite athletes design failure into training 3) Why delayed failure in academia feels personal 4) The role of recovery in performance and resilience 5) How to build systems that promote adaptability, not fear If you’re a student, academic, athlete or professional navigating pressure, setbacks or uncertainty; this episode will shift how you think about failure. Failure is data, not a weakness. And those who learn fastest, win! 📣 Join the A4 Digest Community [AI | Academia | Athletes | Altruism] a4digest.substack.com #Failure #GrowthMindset #HighPerformance #Resilience #Adaptability __________________________________________________ 🧠 Newsletter (AI • Athletes • Academia • Altruism) 👉 a4digest.substack.com 🧰 Online Course 👉 becomingaprofessor.com/course 🌐 Website 👉 habibnoorbhai.com 💼 LinkedIn 👉 linkedin.com/in/habibnoorbh…

We’re witnessing a shift in what it means to be an expert. For years, expertise was signalled by outputs, credentials and access to scarce knowledge. But in an AI-driven world, are those signals potentially becoming easier to replicate (and maybe less valuable)? What’s rising instead? I think Judgement, Wisdom and Meaning. Perhaps the real edge is no longer what we know, but how we think, decide, apply and act. What kind of ‘expertise’ are we now developing? What kind of ‘expert’ are we now becoming? Today, I’m officially launching an online course that has been months in the making 😊 Becoming a Professor (BAP) is a CPD-accredited course (20 credits) recognised across 70+ countries. Over the past decade, I’ve seen incredibly talented people struggle in academia. Not due to a lack of ability, but because they don’t fully understand how the system works or how to align a clear, personalised roadmap with it (especially in today’s rapidly evolving AI-driven landscape). This course changes that... It breaks down: • how to navigate the academic labyrinth • what hiring committees actually look for • how to position yourself strategically • and embracing setbacks, challenges and failure It’s a practical roadmap; shaped by my journey as well as my experience working across several institutions, locally and globally. If you’re serious about accelerating your academic path, this might be for you. 👉 Link to course: becomingaprofessor.com/course. #BAP #BecomingAProfessor #Course #ProfessionalDevelopment

MI’s chase was a masterclass. Rohit + Rickelton had KKR’s line beaten from over 1; the blue never dipped below purple. 148-run opening stand does that to a chase. KKR set 220. MI chased it down with a ball to spare. Further, MI’s actual run rate sat ABOVE the required rate for the entire chase. Never in doubt. Never under pressure. MI dominated every dimension: powerplay, partnerships, top-order impact. KKR simply had no answer. #MIvKKR #IPL2026 #CricketAnalytics

AN INSTITUTIONALISED ECONOMY FOR HEALTH, SPORTS AND LONGEVITY I created this visual timeline to demonstrate where smart money has moved in the last 10 years as well as what the future might focus on within the health and sports ecosystems. Private capital is quietly reshaping the future of health and sport. Over the past decade, three shifts have become undeniable: 1) AI is now the centre of gravity. Over 80% of sports organisations already deploy AI, with ~98% planning expansion. This has now moved from optionally to key infrastructure. 2) Instead of expanding, capital is now concentrating. —> Fewer deals, larger cheques and stronger platform plays are defining the market. 3) Sport is becoming a monetisation engine. Digital platforms and fan ecosystems are unlocking new revenue streams and reshaping leagues/teams. Meanwhile: → XR sits in high potential, early capital territory → Women’s sport remains one of the most underpriced growth assets → AI-driven markets are scaling rapidly ($10.6B to ~$49.9B by 2033) But what are the tangible shifts? a) From performance → intelligence, embodied cognition and decision-making b) From teams and leagues → platforms c) From data → workflow ownership The next winners will converge around using AI as well as building around it. Smart capital doesn’t follow new trends; it builds them… Here’s where PE & VC are placing their biggest interest in 2026 for sports and health: 🏆 Leagues and Teams; $31.6B (+259%) The single largest capital pool. PE now has stakes in several major teams. Sports franchises are the new blue-chip asset. 🧠 AI Health; $4.5B (+275%) 46% of all healthcare VC is now flowing into AI. Behavioral health, precision diagnostics and longevity are leading the charge. 💓 Sports Medicine and Wearables; $3.1B (+244%) Biometrics, injury mitigation, recovery tech. The athlete is becoming a data platform. ⚡ Women’s Sports; $2.35B (+236%) 240% revenue growth in 3 years. Still early. Still undervalued. Not for long. 🥽 XR & Immersive; $1.2B (+300%) Smallest pool. Highest velocity. Numerous major leagues are already in. This is the asymmetric bet of the decade… The scatter plot says it all - XR sits alone at the top. High growth, low saturation. That’s where the next wave builds! The ultimate frontier for capital deployment is now the human body (coupled with precision tech) and its biological potential. #PrivateEquity #VentureCapital #SportsAI #HealthTech #XR #WomensSports #InvestmentTrends

Can we truly quantify the 'confluence' of a cricket batter's potential? 🏏 Our latest preliminary findings suggest we are closer than ever. Following on from my work done 18 months ago at the MIT Immersion Lab, we’re now moving closer to understanding and validating the VR protocol for cricket batting. We now have some preliminary findings demonstrating exciting progress, capturing a confluence of vital data: 1) Physiological Trends: Mapping VO2 and Heart Rate fluctuations across players. 2) Biomechanical Insights: Analysing specific muscle activation (RMS EMG) alongside Peak Angular Velocity. We're starting to obtain a 360° lens on performance potential. A huge word of gratitude to my collaborator, Ritik Bompilwar (whose Masters project at Northeastern I also co-advised). We are unlocking full potential, one data point at a time. More details to follow as the project unfolds! #HNProtocol #SportsScience #CricketScience #SportsXR

One of the most exciting projects I am currently working on is the formulation of my own cricket batting protocol [the Habib Noorbhai (HN) protocol for cricket batting analysis] - to understand how cricket batters can unlock their full potential. My protocol uses a *confluence* of approaches such as full-body motion capture and kinematics, grip analysis, brain activity, decision-making, targeted muscle activity, force plates, VR, physiological data, etc. Each of these has a distinct methodology on how it should be used, validated, calibrated and applied. Soon, this protocol and framework will provide coaches and analysts a 360° lens of a batter's (tailored) potential, performance and improvement areas, at any level. While in the lab, I realised how much I miss playing. Considering a comeback once I return home 😉🇿🇦 📍MIT Immersion Lab #Fulbright_Habib #MIT #HNProtocol

WEEK 11: The Ethics of Performance Enhancement [Human vs. Machine] Are we enhancing human performance… or replacing it? This week, we explore one of the most important questions of our time: 👉 Where do we draw the ethical line between human ability and machine intelligence? From elite sport to AI-driven decision-making, performance has never been purely “natural.” But today, AI is no longer just improving strength or speed - it is enhancing decision-making itself. This episode reframes sport as a moral laboratory, revealing deeper truths about: ✔️ Fairness ✔️ Responsibility ✔️ Integrity ✔️ Human meaning in an AI-driven world This raises critical questions: 1) What happens to human agency when AI predicts our choices? 2) Who is accountable when machines influence performance outcomes? 3) Is performance enhancement still fair when access to AI is unequal? 4) And are we slowly being coerced into optimisation without real choice? Because the future is: human WITH machine, under human values…. 🎬 Watch the FULL VIDEO on YouTube 👉 youtu.be/yw6Wp_Qydgc #AI #Ethics #HumanVsMachine #SportsScience #Performance #A4Digest #DecisionMaking #HumanPerformance #Bioethics #SportsTech __________________________________________________ 🧠 Newsletter (AI • Athletes • Academia • Altruism) 👉 a4digest.substack.com 🧰 FREE Tool-kit for Academics 👉 habibnoorbhai.com/academic-tool-… 🌐 Website 👉 habibnoorbhai.com 💼 LinkedIn 👉 linkedin.com/in/habibnoorbh…

WEEK 10: Two types of Professors: People Builders and Empire Builders Why do some Professors build empires and others build people? In academia, you eventually encounter two kinds of professors: - Those who build empires. - And those who build people. They work in the same universities, publish in the same journals and attend similar conferences; yet their impact on students, colleagues and the future of knowledge could not be more different. 🎬 Watch the FULL VIDEO on YouTube 👉 youtu.be/6GOZGRgtrZs In this week, we explore: • Why some academics prioritise power, control and hierarchy • Why others prioritise mentorship, generosity and human development • What neuroscience tells us about how power changes behaviour • What athletes can teach us about leadership and team success • How AI is flattening academic hierarchies and exposing outdated models of authority • Why altruism may be the most powerful leadership strategy in modern scholarship #Academia #AcademicLeadership #HigherEducation #Mentorship #AIinAcademia #AcademicCareer __________________________________________ 🧠 Newsletter (AI • Athletes • Academia • Altruism) 👉 a4digest.substack.com 🧰 FREE Tool-kit for Academics 👉 habibnoorbhai.com/academic-tool-… 🌐 Website 👉 habibnoorbhai.com 💼 LinkedIn 👉 linkedin.com/in/habibnoorbh…

I've watched every cricket final match with enthusiasm and interest over the years. But tonight I didn't. I stopped watching tonight's game after Lockie Ferguson's first over. Those wides weren't nerves, he has intentionally bowled those for the dollar. I feel cheated as a cricket fan. It is all a setup and fans are not idiots or duffers or blind to know what is going on. This kind of flat pitch for a final is an absolute disgrace. You expect some balance between bat and ball. Tonight is a black day for international cricket and will forever be in the history books.

Flat pitches and small boundaries in India are not real cricket. Also, Indian batsmen are given the best bats in the world, which no one else gets. #NotCricket
