«La libertad, Sancho, es uno de los más preciosos dones que a los hombres dieron los cielos; con ella no pueden igualarse los tesoros que encierra la tierra ni el mar encubre; por la libertad, así como por la honra, se puede y debe aventurar la vida…»

For years, the first Saturday in Lent, our TLM group went on a 10 miles pilgrimage for Lenten intentions which ended at St Jane de Chantal in Abita Springs. The highlight of the day was Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament afterward and I can tell you that all the girls/ladies brought bags with their veils, slip on dresses and sweaters where we men all wore or changed into slacks and a collared shirt, some even changed into oxfords and neck ties. If catholics want to be taken seriously in the public square then we must start taking The Faith seriously and yes, that includes proper sartorial choices in and out of Mass. A priest I know put it this way, "what we do in here (Church) matters out there." Lex Orandi Lex Credendi Lex Vivendi

The death penalty question is back in the air, ever since Leo XIV doubled down on the error of his predecessor. No, the death penalty is NOT "inadmissible." It is NOT "per se contrary to human dignity and the Gospel." It is admissible. It is permissible. It is sometimes warranted. It is sometimes even necessary for the preservation of the common good. All this is clear from Scripture, Tradition, and the solemn, perennial Magisterium of the Church. The *only* issue that can be debated is whether it is prudentially right in this or that situation or context. For a quick overview of why this is the only coherent position a Catholic can take, see the lecture linked here, given in 2019, and the shorter article from 2023. Of course, the literature is vast; Ed Feser's work is particularly commendable for its careful attention to both argument and authority. “The race comes first. The Mass fits around it. The body dresses for the race. The church receives what the race leaves over. And when someone says, ‘This is backwards,’ the mob arrives to explain that the real sin is noticing.” i.e. The scandalized is the real scandalizer

🚨 NEW AT HIRAETH! The Death of Catholic Modesty Oklahoma City’s “Runner’s Mass” was a public catechism in irreverence, and the reaction showed how deeply Catholics have forgotten the sacred. Whenever a “Christian” refers to Jesus as “Yeshua,” you know you’re about to hear some dumb nonsense. Total insanity.

I blame all the current problems in the Catholic Church on endurance athletes that want to hear mass.

@XCkyro We need to lay the blame at the root of the problem in the church. And that was the murder of the Katechon, Harambe.

@Rachel4TLM I can smell the protestantism on you a mile away. You don’t really care about guiding those underdressed people in the right direction. You just enjoy the henpecking and gossiping. Like a garrulous biddie yapping about everyone’s transgressions, but not working on her own sin.

@Isaiahfloz @BigModernism How many of those people don’t show up for work because their place of employment has a dress code?

I posted this as a half jest in light of the recent hubub about runners and attire at mass, but it's opened my eyes in more ways than one. The replies to this vindicate my belief that if Catholic Churches globally enforced a dress code like the one below or similar, then a lot of people would simply not go to mass rather than conform to the standard. Quite telling.

I miss Pope Francis, he would’ve given the SSPX 30 bishops just because he’s chill like that

“Don’t post pictures of people dressed inappropriately for Mass.” The Archdiocese is the one that took the photo and shared it on social media. Maybe tell the bishop?
