@Cmurino84@FrankieVitz@nyjets I think these so called “experts” get too caught up in nonsense. To me, the film matters more than anything else.
And by film, I’m not talking about flash plays like Reese. I’m talking consistent elite film vs all comp. That’s Bain.
And to disregard that over arms is nuts.
@Cmurino84@FrankieVitz@nyjets And that’s even more ridiculous than Reese being considered at 2 bc of potential imo.
Plenty of pass rushers with short arms have succeeded. Is it rare? Yes but rare is what Bain is.
Not too may edge players walk into CFB bullying grown men offensive linemen as true freshman.
@Cmurino84@FrankieVitz@nyjets I originally was hoping Styles fell to the Jets at 16 but after that combine, that’s a pipe dream. Still have an issue drafting him so high at 2.
I think Bain is head & shoulders above the rest in this draft. If his arms were 2 inches longer, this wouldn’t even be a discussion.
@Cmurino84@FrankieVitz@nyjets I watched a lot of Ohio State & imo Downs is their best defender, followed by Styles and then Reese.
But I feel a lot better about Downs and Styles succeeding than I do Reese.
@RatedX321@FrankieVitz@nyjets He’s going to be a very good lb at the very least. He didn’t just “flash potential” there he was awesome. It’s the edge spot where we’re projecting.
@Cmurino84@FrankieVitz@nyjets How?
How is a player who has done nothing but flash potential have a high floor?
The only reason to draft him at 2 is if he’s an edge. And in this case how is his floor higher than Bain’s or even Bailey?
Reese is all potential, that’s it.
@FrankieVitz You’re talking about 1 season.
But if you’re talking career, there is only ONE edge in this draft who is in the same stratosphere.
You know who it is & you know it’s not David Bailey lol.
The Draft Community needs to stop comparing anyonee to Will Anderson Jr, who had 34.5 TFLs in one season (+17.5 sacks in just that year) and was a complete disruptor at Bama.
There is no EDGE in this draft that is even close to him.
Quinnen Williams was traded for 2027 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. That is the floor for any Dexter Lawrence deal IMO. If you don't get it, don't move him. Personally, I'd much rather pay Dex than trade him. Giants NEED Dex.
@FrankieVitz You’re right about Reese but wrong about there not being a can’t miss prospect.
Bain is that.
The absolute basement floor is literally a Sean Ellis type career.
There is no can't miss prospect for the #Jets at 2 btw.
I love David Bailey, but he's not a can't miss.
Jets need to just position themselves with talent at important spots (rushing passer, receiving/YAC, interior blocking) for 2027.
Reese to me doesn't fit any of that.
I could be wrong btw. Hell do I know.
@JohnnyVenerable@MoveTheSticks@PSchrags Jets have one route to not F this draft up.
And that’s drafting Rueben Bain.
No weaknesses in his game to go w/a non stop relentless motor. Those that talk about arm length aren’t examining his game and what makes him successful.
Literally bust proof.
Two prominent NFL insiders with evidence to suggest the Jets are leaning David Bailey, not Arvell Reese, second overall.
(Cc: @MoveTheSticks / @PSchrags)
@FrankieVitz@nyjets The kid has physical talent and his tape shows explosiveness in SPURTS.
But I’m not wasting a top 5 pick on that. Hes a project. Of all the names floated in the top 10, he’s the one with the biggest chance of being a bust.
You can’t mess around with top 5 picks.
@FrankieVitz@nyjets It’s just crazy to me to assume that OSU coaches, who had Reese for 3 years, played him the way they did knowing he could be a monster off the edge.
Makes zero sense.
And now all of these experts think he will magically morph into Parsons bc what? Combine & measurements?
@NFL_DF@BobMcGinn He’s going to be make the trifecta of Jets draft busts at 2 overall. Blair Thomas, Zach Wilson & now this guy.
When will the Jets learn that you don’t play around with premium picks drafting projects?
Scouts believe Arvell Reese is “not in the league of Micah Parsons,” and I have to say I agree (via @BobMcGinn)
It’s not unlikely the Jets draft him #2 overall, but that’s due to how WEAK this draft class is more than it is Reese being an immediate superstar in the NFL.
Reese is raw and inexperienced as an edge rusher, but I’m not sure his off-ball LB play warrants him being drafted so high either. While he can be an elite linebacker, his upside getting after the QB is what the Jets will actually covet:
@vegasjetsfan@rotoworld_fb Why would I cry? I’ve been a Jets fan long enough to know the stupidity is on its way. Nothing new.
You might cry when you see Rueben Bain tearing things up in AZ or Tenn while Reese looks lost but shows explosiveness in flashes lol.
@vegasjetsfan@rotoworld_fb Says the genius that thinks an off ball LB who never had a dominant season is the “best top 5 pick in years!” 😂
I couldn’t come up with something more clueless to say if I tried 😂
